You know what the best part of my day is? For about 10 seconds, when I type into the browser and I wait for it to load. I think maybe I'll log in and try to Post and the Bird App won't be there. No notes app apology, no nothing. Just gone. I don't know much, but I know that.
Some teams in F1:
- A private equity firm that owns the shadow of Williams
- A team named after a crypto casino
- A team bought so a guy's son can have a seat
- A team owned by Gene Haas
- "Visa CashApp RB"
None as vile an insult to auto racing as a GM factory team!
F1 has rejected Andretti in the most emphatic terms. Doubts it would be competitive, customer engine would damage F1's 'prestige and standing', dismisses significance of Andretti name, would have no material commercial value, and would not add value to F1.
What do you think?
Every Shams Charania feature is about how he gave up friendship and has actively avoided getting any better at television so he can be available to tweet "The Utah Jazz have waived Pooh Jeter's cap hold" faster and every Woj feature suggests he's pretty normal
If you're appalled to find a group of engineers using Excel in a way that doesn't make a ton of sense but does work, you may not be cut out to lead an F1 team

Apparently, NASCAR has just cooperated their way into having the NASCAR Cup Series point leader skip one of the biggest races of the year, in order to race elsewhere.

Neither of these boxers are particularly good, either. This is like if Deron Williams was trying to get Gordon Hayward banned while LeBron was separately still out there doing his stuff.
There's a series where Romain Grosjean and Scott McLaughlin can race each other for wins like this and somehow it is not the most popular racing series in the world

Franco Colapinto's resume advantages on Logan Sargeant:
- Is a different guy
- Looks and sounds like a person who is not Logan Sargeant
- Three Asian Le Mans Series LMP2 podiums
Antonelli's next Formula 2 podium will be his first above the Formula Regional level. If a driver can get a superlicense without running F3 or F2, maybe the system is bad?
Know there’s a lot of upset over the Colton Herta comparison. The difference between the two cases is that Antonelli has already qualified for a superlicense by amassing enough points (without even racing F3 or F2) but until the reg change wasn’t old enough to use it. Herta has

One of the weirdest thing we've sort of just accepted as a cultural fact is that we now value the lives of people actively putting themselves in situations where they're in danger more than those who are completely innocent and hurt collaterally by thoose in those situations!

There's a curve where it starts getting funnier the more it happens and "2 times" is the precise least funny number of times for it to happen
NASCAR will take people talking about this as all-news-is-good-news. It's not. This is a humiliating night for the sport. It's no wonder young, affluent people are attracted to F1 instead.
This might piss off a lot of people, but no,
IndyCar drivers are great but if an Marcus Ericsson is killing it in Indy, it makes you question a lot of things

The Antonelli thing is also a great reminder that the super license points system we must apparently accept as gospel with no exceptions is absolute nonsense. Antonelli is qualified off titles in Formula 4 and Formula Regional -- four and three levels below F1, respectively.
@eliz_blackstock
Not surprised by the decision, but surprised how insulting the actual announcement is. Not just conceptually insulting, the rejection was always going to be that. A lot of actual insult.
Shane van Gisbergen won his first Cup race, his first-ever race of any sort, in a stock car. Scott McLaughlin learned downforce as an adult and won within 15 months of his first IndyCar race.
You should probably watch Bathurst this year.
How did Franco Colapinto get a super license? I count 30 points: 4th in F3 for 15, 9th in F3 for 3, 6th in FRECA for 5, 3rd in Asian Le Mans for 6 (double-counted with 9th in F3), one practice.
Dallara chassis? Sponsored by a finance software company from Portland? Questionable application of a JPS tribute livery? I'm sorry Brad Pitt you aren't driving an F1 car, you're driving an IndyCar
Far too many IndyCar posts today that aren't about the Colton Herta working at a fair and not telling anyone thing. Why did he do that. Why did he do 12 hour shifts. Why did he do it twice.
The following are The Races:
Indianapolis 500
Le Mans
The following are great races with mostly-unbroken histories:
Southern 500
Bathurst 1000
Monza, Spa, Silverstone
End of the list
If Williams had waited two more races to do this, they would have had seven rounds after the IndyCar season to potentially try out Alex Palou if his contract allowed.
There is no excuse to get this thing on a grid I won't take. Put it in the Bathurst 1000, put it in the Nurburgring 24, put it in a MotoGP round if the riders are fine with it.
If there are no entries on the waitlist for the Daytona 24, shouldn't they wheel this out one more time to get the entry to 60?
Throw Elliott, Larson, Bowman, and Byron in
Ignore everything about contractual obligation and whether or not these conversations are owed to anyone. For years now, Brundle has been handed the reins to the main English language feed for Formula 1 and, if anyone ever turns him down, he uses it to act like a child.
Anyway, I remain steadfast in my belief that drivers should always skip their full-time job to run the Indianapolis 500 and the 24 Hours of Le Mans. No matter who they are, no matter what it is.
That is half the grid. Andretti had concrete plans to be a more serious operation than all of those. These claims hold no weight is an understatement, everything here but F1 being a bigger brand than Andretti is a baseless insult. And that's still an insult, just a correct one!

My favorite part of Skyrim endgame is when you level so high that a knight just shows up and says "Fuck it, you are finally powerful enough to waste your time fighting me even though I have no significance at all."

"This objectively better system works more efficiently than the one you're comfortable enough with to use thoroughly" is a justification often given by managers to engineers and it often ends with engineers using their worse system anyway

the entire point is that the excel system was inefficient and slow. so maybe he is cut out, and you don't know quite as much as you claim to.
Rooting for Theo Pourchaire this weekend, in part because I would love to see him carve a career out here and in part because it would simply be a pretty funny outcome
Here's my nuanced take: That was sick as hell as a one-time thing that happened out of pure urgency and chance. Now that we know it works, it should be regulated out so every last lap here doesn't look like that.
Kyle Larson wasn't a fan of what Ross Chastain did on the last lap.

Pretty high correlation between American flags on cars this week and teams that are threatened by the existence of a competent American team with a major American car company's backing, wonder what that's about
In addition to being the clear most popular driver outright among fans at California and Texas races, Pato O’Ward is currently so much better than Adrian Fernandez ever was
