FWIW I have CHOSEN to live in an expensive AF area of the world and I am thankful that I have the wealth to live here. But it was a choice. $5mm in NYC is the same $5mm in the rural south (if it’s liquid). You just CHOSE to spend it to live in NYC.

A common response “$5mm isn’t RAF if you’re raising children in one of the most expensive cities in the world” and I’ve realized people completely detach where they live from a CHOICE in consumption.

The number of people in this thread arguing that at $5mm net wealth you still may still need to work if you want to travel the world for 30 years and send your kids to private school is why everyone is depressed and think life is unfair.
