Huge congratulations to our former Chair and President Clare Gerada on becoming a Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords. A lifelong College member and now a Baroness – but first and foremost a grassroots GP who continues to deliver exceptional care to your patients and to fight

In Britain, a former far-right Reform party politician has been convicted of taking bribes to promote Russian viewpoints. Another scandal that should be the end of Reform but will be ignored unless we make a lot of noise about it. https://t.co/TgtyM7geIF

This is the reality of peddling hatred. We have been a multicultural society in all of our recorded history. From Romans, Celts, Angles, Normans onwards. The diversity of the NHS makes it so effective.
My sister, a fully qualified doctor, was treating a patient in A&E when he told her to "come back when you can speak English." Born and bred in Britain, straight A student, speaks perfect English. But still not enough because she's a proud Muslim woman who wears the hijab.

This is well worth a read. Civil service sickness rates lower than the national average. And working from home helps productivity!
Last week the @Daily_Express ran with the following front page. So obviously I had to take a look! Is it true? How does it compare to other professions? Because anyone familiar with British RW media discourse knows they reserve a special venom for civil servants…🤷🏼♀️ 🧵 1/25

This is a really important point right now.
Too little, if any, of the Angela Rayner coverage reflects the reality three editors have parked cars outside her homes and pursued her since and before the election. They got their target. But they choose who they take down, who they ignore, who they celebrate. And who they

You can be pro immigration and against illegal routes You can support trans people and have the utmost respect for women You can be heterosexual and still support gay rights The list continues. Stop with this putting everyone in a box exercise and maybe have conversations

Standing room only at the @salesforce session on #AgenticAI at #DHSS25 Ed Thompson’s earlier talk seems to have excited people! @DHSummerSchools

I was delighted to open for Ed Thompson, @Salesforce & Kira Levy, @awscloud to give a different perspective on the #NHS 10yr plan AI agents need to undertake tasks and save humans effort - not just assist; & its Transformation not technology to fix it #DHSS25 @DHSummerSchools

Great to listen to Stephen Kinnock at the @restate_thinks Re:Imagining Health conference here at the @salesforce tower in London. The push from Analogue to Digital will need a new approach and a move from “build in house” to buying what works - if it is to deliver.

We need a clear vision for health from the top. The appointment of a high calibre adviser like @axelheitmueller hugely encourages me that there’ll be a pull-signal for ambition from the centre, challenge to lazy thinking and energetic obstacle-clearance. https://t.co/15YWSh7lWW

Spot on - we have an amazing opportunity here. I hope the NHS and the 10 year plan are brave. How Labour should save the NHS (from @TheEconomist)

ANALYSIS: The treatment of Jess Phllips over recent days tells me all I need to know about the epidemic of misogyny, sexual abuse and violence against women and girls that still plagues our culture. The domestic violence campaigner-turned politician, who has spent her career

Speaking to Sky News, Jess Phillips branded Elon Musk's claims about her "ridiculous" and said she will not be silenced.

There has been an Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse in England and Wales. The inquiry took 7 years to complete and took evidence from 7,000 victims, producing a 458-page report with 20 recommendations in 2022. None of the report's recommendations have been implemented.

Thank you for posting this. I trust @jessphillips, who’s been shouting the need to stop blaming the victims, for years. We don’t need a hypocritical call for another enquiry - we need to implement the lessons so hard learned.
Ok this is a bit harrowing but we do need to talk about it. You know this whole “why did the police ignore grooming” thing in the 2000s? Well I was a kid in the 2000s. I was born in 1996. And I want to talk about what society thought about “girls making bad choices” 🧵

I realise that most of you won’t get to read this due to X’s algorithm. But if you do, may I wish you a very happy New Year, and hope that 2025 brings us our collective ambition of better healthcare technology, and a peaceful and prosperous world for the next generation.
