The Churchill statue in Parliament Square has been defaced overnight with "Zionist war criminal" and other graffiti. My colleague who took the photo says the statue is covered on all sides. It is cordoned off and being cleaned, it seems.

Eh. The media not covering this has to do a) a lack of reporters in an authoritarian country, b) the inability to gauge if this is just another wave of protests or whether the regime could topple. And c) most Western outlets don’t have a lot of knowledge of Iran either. And this

One of the bizarre and telling peculiarities of the surging protests in Iran has been that the best coverage of the momentous bravery of the ordinary Iranians fighting Islamic dictatorship has been by a comedian @omid9 - and not our famous BBC.
The country on strike. Massive numbers on the streets. Internet cut. Mullahs seen at Moscow airport. Yet the regime still shoot at protestors. Many dead. But the people keep on coming. The courage of our fellow human beings is staggering. #IranRevolution2026 Tehran tonight ⬇️
