Food delivery driver just taken away in foot shackles by federal agents in Shaw at 8th & R. He didn’t speak English & had no idea was being arrested until they cuffed him. Told them he is clearly working & not a criminal & focus on actual issues if they want to help. They don’t.

Great Juneteenth learning about & honoring Mount Zion & Female Union Band Society Historic Georgetown Cemeteries with the amazing Lisa Fager! Many of the 21 former slaves who founded Shaw’s Shiloh Baptist Church in 1863 are interred here.
Our cemetery was a stop on the Underground Railroad. This brick vault, still on our property today, is where enslaved people longing for freedom would hide before descending to a route towards free land through Rock Creek Park. #ReclaimOurPast #BlackGeorgetownRemembered
