It’s all about trump & his photo op. This isn't about safety. This isn't about crime. It’s about Trump. He's the crisis. Our city looks like a war zone. MPD is babysitting federal agents. DC residents are being taken off the streets. Trump is the problem. Make DC a state!.

The damage being done by ALL officers won’t disappear when federal agents leave. MPD will be left with the fallout of deeper mistrust & broken trust. This is why #DCStatehood matters. We should decide how we’re policed, now we are left to pick up the pieces.
At some point, D.C. residents and visitors will stop knowing which police officers are which, and that could profoundly shape their views of the MPD officers who will remain long after the federal officers leave.

They can’t pass it in Congress, so they’re trying to do it by force. DC law is clear: MPD is NOT required to act as ICE’s lapdog. This is an illegal power grab meant to bully our city into compliance. We will not be intimidated. #HandsOffDC.
This is still illegal and MPD still does not have to comply with any orders directing it to violate local DC laws. They know they cannot get Congress to repeal DC’s law on compliance with ICE so they are trying to bully MPD into repealing the law unilaterally.
