I've been in birthdays in Brussels where I was the only guest that made it besides the guy's wife, and it was absolutely heartbreaking. It's not because people don't have friends, but because everyone else had something else to do. There is no spontaneity. Atomization is complete

This girl planned her boyfriend’s 30th birthday and all twenty of his friends said they couldn’t make it. She says that she doesn’t have the heart to tell him 🥹

One thing that always gets me was the reaction of the natives to the first contact with the Portuguese in coastal Brazil in 1500: strangely curious, peaceful, and in a certain way almost indifferent /

Look at these boomers thinking this is reality. It's really impossible to exaggerate how the average person is retarded and will believe anything you say or show them

This man isn’t a revolutionary right-wing figure, he’s an establishment neoliberal politician who works for the WEF and has a Thatcherite-Reaganist economic ideology.

One of the most vexing pieces of writing to me in all literature. Why would Pliny be lying about this? If not lying, what did he see?

Remember working with a high caste Indian who longed for visiting India because, among other things, her servants did things like massaging her feet. They have absolutely no qualms about dehumanising their servants, they don't exist as individuals to them.

One of the most embarassing things in modern Leftist behaviour is a pathologic need to perform a kind of masculinity, of "edgy realness" since they are truly scared of being seen as effeminate, snobbish or out of touch

Yeah, the whole point is that this is a dirty, violent, anti-social man who shows up at the pub and makes students uncomfortable so its basically the law in Britain that you have to 'respect him'

Posts like these ignore a central issue: Although people were relatively poorer in the 50s, they felt optimistic and happy, and now almost nobody feels optimistic, but hopeless for the future. Most youth feels alienated, drug abuse and overdose skyrocketed, so did crime.

The vast majority of people in wars die in a pathetic manner. You get shot from someone you never got to see, your tank rolls over an ied, you get bombed from above, your convoy gets ambushed before you even get to the front. Done. It's gone. It's the end for you /

@LaocoonofTroy Gadaffi's downfall was a consequence of the network of tribes he used to stay in power (after failing to create a socialist-like state in 70s) smelling blood on the water. In Syria and Lybia, the responsibility of the US - or Russia - from creating violence is limited /

imagine if a group of muslims raided a church and kicked all the worshippers in it and started doing activities that are sinful in christianity: it wouldve been the headline of every mainstream media and yet they get away with it.
