Irrationally excited for this book.
How was penicillin able to eliminate 80% of WWII battlefield deaths? Why did nails once make up 0.4% of US GDP?. In The Origins of Efficiency, @_brianpotter unpacks how production efficiency happens, and why it is of civilizational importance. Preorder:

I really want the ability to disable the model router in ChatGPT and only use reasoning/thinking tools. o3 was my daily driver with o4 being the backup if I hit the message limit. The GPT-5 update greatly reduced the access to reasoning tools, which were the only tools that.
The level of intelligence for most people in @ChatGPTapp after GPT-5 update will depend highly on the 'router' and how often it would switch into 'thinking' mode. If you were using o3 already, you are unlikely to feel a huge difference. However, vast majority of ChatGPT users

This feels undeniably true. As a product, ChatGPT got far worse for me as a Plus user even though the GPT5 model is “better” than what I had access to before.
ChatGPT literally got worse for every single Plus user today. There's no way to reliably get thinking models anymore. Before we had o4-mini, o4-mini-high and o3. Now we have GPT-5 Thinking with 200 messages per week and a router that exclusively routes you to some small and.

It was a pleasure to interview @mbrendan1 and to partner with him and the @cosmos_inst to create this video. It's pretty clear to me that it's paramount for humanity, and builders in particular, to think deeply about what they're creating, why, and for whom.
Every builder's first duty is philosophical: to decide what they should build for. AI is beginning to decide what ideas reach your mind—your next action, your next job, your next relationship. It will tempt you to outsource your thinking in ways you’ve never been tempted before.
