People will really regret being anti-open source in the future when giant companies know everything about your life, can gate your access to information with intelligent filters for "your own good and safety" and can rug pull you whenever they don't like the cut of your jib.
People are focusing on the "lol OpenAI is using Claude" thing and not on the much more important "AI labs can rugpull your access to intelligence whenever they want" thing. Competitive open source AI is going to be required to maintain a functioning society.

AI doom prophecies on YouTube continue to target children/young adults – adding 'doom' to their 'doomscrolling'. Some of the anxiety-inducing fearmongering is funded by EA, including $10M from Open Philanthropy given to Kurzgesagt ($7.3M) and Rational Animations ($2.7M)

We have completely shot ourselves in the foot with a totally idiotic legislation storm.
I compiled this list to expose the absurdity of the AI regulatory landscape, detailing all enacted and pending U.S. AI regs (Note: “Enacted” mixes laws, pre-effective regs, & guidance). Since the 10yr moratorium failed, the AI policy landscape risks getting more complex.
