If you argue that moral standards should depend on an individual's/group's power, you're effectively arguing that we should empower those who are less moral.

Gusev is better at obfuscating than his ideological allies because (among other reasons) he avoids some of their more overt in-group signaling. Others would have called this "problematic" and engaged in explicit name-calling. Instead, Gusev tries to present a smear by association

DOGE's underlying goal wasn't to reduce spending or to improve the deficit/debt situation. It was to undercut left-wing bureaucratic control over a broad set of policy arms. It was an ideological effort.

It's worth remembering that DOGE is a failure at Every. Single. Possible. Level. At the micro level, they misread, misled and straight up lied about many of the 'savings'. They'd announce '500m saved!' and it would be some contract where the money was 98% already spent and.

This guy has >140k followers. I broadly oppose censorship, but if you don't at least understand why some want it, you're not taking the subject seriously. The "marketplace for ideas" has a lot of inefficiency. it's just that social planners usually turn out not to be benevolent.

Lord please give me a Dem party that builds abundance, fair play, state capacity, merit and the American dream. We want public safety, great schools, lots of housing and an end to NGO and public sector grift. If that is heresy please get your pitchforks and light your torches!.

Blaming others is a common human impulse, as is lamenting how others' problems affect oneself. But the past two decades have witnessed unprecedented normalization of this behavior from certain preferred identity groups and condemnation of it from others. As a result, we're now.

I don't think this characterization is accurate, but we also need to be honest about just how much more satirical material Trump provides. A show that devoted similar attention to Obama and Trump would be shooting itself in the foot comedically.

"South park makes fun of everyone". Well, except for Obama, Biden, and Harris but other than that short 12 year anomaly in their 25 year runtime they totally roast both sides.

Actually, no--this isn't how it works. Racism isn't some unique sin that serves as a defining trait and erases all other virtues/shortcomings of a given person. This was a bad thing, and the rest of Hogan's existence nonetheless remains.

forgive this analogy but the problem with this is just clearly the same problem that plagues the liberal millennial feminist dating discourse: you have to like men! I mean you have to *like* them! you need genuine fondness for the category of people you wish to attract!

Hardly anyone views himself as a supervillian. Hitler thought he was a force for good, as did many of his followers. Communists don't get excused for millions of deaths and undermining civilization because they hold some vague notion of "good intentions".

Seriously though, it's because even if you think communism is childish or idealistic, they want everyone's needs met and for no one to be poor. Fascists want to oppress and kill people. It's bad in terms of outcome AND in terms of intent.

With that said, I appreciate that he's honest about the situation and disagrees simply by invoking alternative moral principles. I consider this to be infinitely better than getting the facts on the ground wrong (intentionally or unintentionally).

This analogy is terrible. Car crashes are accepted in return for massive quality of life improvements. "retaining their humanity" is a vague deontological concept, and I doubt most Israelis/people see it as a large payoff (or any) relative to the costs of living under persistent

I just want Israel to tolerate rocket attacks like car crashes. We tolerate them to get to work on time; Israel must tolerate them to retain their humanity.

Why do so many utilitarians promote comically naive forms of utilitarianism? (The answer is probably dispositional/ideological selection.) Externalities exist, and the answer to this question very obviously depends on which human it is, even if you're uncomfortable admitting it.

You should save 10^100 shrimp instead of one human, because 10^100 is a very big number. If you are 99.9999999999999% sure that shrimp feel 0 pain, and .00000000000001% sure that shrimp feel a 1/10000000th the pain humans do, this would still be an easy decision.

Tate just sucks. He takes a legitimate point (that this would strongly disincentivize marriage), but can't help twisting it into a low-brow, [actually!] misogynist framing that will appeal to the most destructive impulses of angry losers and drive away everyone normal.

@MattWalshBlog Great way to put the nail in marriages coffin. Nobody gets married anymore because of women like her. Men are men, always have been and will be. Hes allowed. She isnt. Telling men if they touch another girl anypoint in their lives = financial decimation is why nobody gets.
