This is largely because left-wing politicization replaced creativity with didacticism and grandstanding, just as it did with so many other things
Creatives are much more left wing than the public - this near monopoly on cultural production has been a big driving force for spreading cosmopolitan values over the last century and it’s coming to an end. If the left doesn’t adapt to this new world things could get quite bad.

It's easy to fall in love just by focusing on people's best qualities. The phase isn't delusional so much as taxing in a way that is difficult to notice until it suddenly disappears.
I've long wondered whether the infatuation phase everyone says is delusional is in fact a rare moment of more adequate recognition of another's objective nature.

The attacks on @McCormickProf are directly related to the distance a person stands from any real power to impact secular institutions, lack of earned scholarly credibility, & degree of cozy insulation within & career dependence on culturally impotent RW & evangelical bubbles.
