More on why/how new NIH grants are still frozen. Great quote from SRO https://t.co/DcV1NzSfQ1 The scientific review officer said he could describe the impact of these layoffs on the agency’s ability to review grant applications and fund research in two words: “We’re f*cked.”

I was supposed to have an NIH study section (KEDD) today but it was "postponed TBD" yesterday. NIH can't make awards if it can't publicly announce its study section and Council meetings in the Federal Register. No meeting has been added since Jan 21 https://t.co/ldaZ8zxCJ0

This is a huge deal. “Indirect costs”, as they’re called, from NIH still pay for direct science — eg, funding science labs, lab upkeep — but also university administration. Cutting this line item by billions of dollars is going to threaten university jobs but also potentially

Some good news from my team among the craziness... 🚨 Our latest findings published in @AJPRegu ! 🧑‍⚕️☀️💤 @CulverMeral found that poor vitamin D status is linked to greater sleep variability in healthy adults. Read more: https://t.co/qfV0p2vrlQ #SleepHealth #VitaminD

High blood pressure while lying down could signal higher risks of heart disease and death, even with normal seated readings. Read more about important recent findings here: https://t.co/b7tbRYqsFH #HeartHealth #Cardiology

It’s not yet time to abandon seated BP measurements, but taking a look at supine readings may provide enhanced risk assessments.

This is a half physiological truth turned into a wellness fact that does little more than to bolster sales of salty sugary 'hydration' products (which many have an affiliate code for 🥴) & results in people ingesting an extra 500-1000mg of sodium on top of an already salty diet.

Drinking 8 glasses of water daily is based on zero science. Real hydration requires sodium + glucose in a 2:1 ratio—this activates transport proteins that pull water into cells. Without both salt and sugar, you're just flushing your system.
