Debut novel 'Hurda' out from @bloomsburyindia (https://t.co/boVrpyLix9) | 2021 @AsiaSpeaks fellow | Reading is always more important than writing
Joined February 2013
Thrilled to see Hurda on the @TheJCBPrize longlist! And it's especially heartening to see two Marathi novels make it this year. Not to mention the fact that I get to to be on the same list as Upamanyu Chatterjee!! Absolutely stoked.
Five translations, five original English novels make up the 2024 longlist of @TheJCBPrize for literature.

We did that as 16-year-olds with real filmmakers discussing real films on a random Tuesday at a college lit fest in Matunga. Not everything you do is "cooking". Maybe consider the fact that you live inside your own little back-slapping bubbles
a random 2am thought but it's so easy to hate on something until you realise how big of a deal this is. i'm still unable to fathom that a few 20yos pulled this off in 3 weeks. imagine the level of conviction required to bring creators, directors, producers, actors all in one

Hello scrollers. Like to take your Sunday with a dollop of self-searching? Do give my new post a chance. AI says the piece "has an emotional arc even though it pretends not to." Like all of us. It's also a tribute to my fave writers and the beautiful things they say. LINK IN BIO

@chonkychihuahua Unfortunately, one of the hallmarks of contemporary reading culture is that a lot of people reflexively treat critiques of their favourite writers as an attack upon the self…

In which case this tweet should have stopped at "had never heard of her".
I have no views on this scholar Francesca Orsini. Had never heard of her. But those of us from a rooted background, who speak Hindi at home, read Hindi books as well, can only roll our eyes at this rather bizarre claim that 'few have shaped our understanding' of Hindi literary

This is what happens when we create a society that is obsessed with box office collections. Art is not supposed to be profitable. Art is not a tool of capitalism. It is literally a medium to resist capitalism. Fuck the fuck off
@MrNarci maybe the society doesn't value the art in that case. the art that gives better returns will get more of the share of money

Yeah, this is where we are at now. Tech fucks and startup bros explaining art to those who actually do it and have done it for years. Learn to sit things out for a change
bro these people are such a try hard and pessimists. Atleast understand that at the end of the day it'd be the films produced by the creative artists who can't afford a crore worth of rig, funding or "approval" from the big shots. This is what democratization of art and its

Prof Tripathi is one in a billion & will be remembered in history as a shining pillar of empathy. Those bullying him are ordinary hatemongerers who will be swiftly & easily forgotten. Go on, prof ✊🏽
See how these hateful people cornered my father, Prof Tripathi. All he said was that Gaza needs compassion, yet they mocked him for it. Papa faces this almost daily, yet he is dedicated to humanity. Boils my blood. 😡😡

One of the worst judicial injustices in recent times, now perpetuated for indefinitely longer. The cases against these people are built on foundations of smoke; to justify their imprisonment without trial for 5+ years, on each occasion, court judgments lack all reason. See:👇

Someone once asked Woodrow Wilson how long it took him to prepare for a ten-minute speech. He said, “Two weeks.” “How long for an hour speech?” “One week,” he answered. “And for a two-hour one?” his interrogator went on. “I am ready now,” replied the late president.
FACT: Most of Nehru's Independence Day speeches lasted for less than 30 mins. In 1954, it was less than 15 mins. In a young Republic, languishing with so many problems, did he have no vision, ideas, or roadmap to share? Compare this with PM Modi, who speaks for almost 2 hours.

Issue 61 of The Bombay Literary Magazine is live. It's our largest issue ever. We opened for essays this time, plus there's a guest edited special section called "Explorations." It's all awesome. And the translated fiction and poetry sections are out of this world.

Writing workshops are back after too long a hiatus. This one is particularly special because it offers a serious sliding scale to make it as accessible as possible & 15% of all proceeds go towards Gaza Mutual Aid. Writers of all stripes welcome. DM to register.

This is not a fact check. This kind of politically-motivated response validates all the fears about the integrity and impartiality of ECI. When the Leader of Opposition says something, constitutional bodies engage in good faith. They do not behave like stooges of the ruling party

How long were the boundaries in the 90s? Here's a wild throwback to Aus vs Aus A (1994/95). Bonus: 19-year-old Ponting, diving like his life depends on it.
