Kerala has never had a woman CM, but there have been some towering female figures in its political history: the ones that almost made it. Even this list of just-misses is not that long! KR Gouri may be the earliest example of a Malayali woman leader who ‘almost made it’.

I remember this film released in 2006, right after the song Partha Mudhal Nalai from Vettaiyad Vilayad became a thing.
(This was when Malayalam cinema was still confused about how to aesthetically show intimate scenes between the lead actors.)
