In totally unrelated news, Her Grace the Lord Archbishop of Canterbury did homage to the King earlier today and thus had the temporalities of her see restored to her. The words of which are fantastic (as usual deep breath now!) "I Dame Sarah Elisabeth having been elected,

Starmer implied, and I am not exaggerating, that his sellout of the Chagossians was somehow necessary to defend the people of Greenland from US aggression. You do reach a point where the layers of absurdist deceit become almost impossible to pick through
spectator.com
Inevitably, given the news, the Chagos featured heavily at PMQs, as did the situation in Greenland.

What Reform really thinks about Robert Jenrick: "This man is a fraud. This man is not to be trusted."

Hear, hear. Was at assoc'n dinner few mnths ago where Jenrick said exact opposite of what he said yest - defended Conservative Party record (whilst being honest about what we got wrong) & outlined why Reform don't have the answers. This defection feels personal, not principled.
"I feel desperately let down by what Robert did yesterday... yesterday was an ego trip, sucking up to Nigel on television". Mark Francois MP reacts to Robert Jenrick's defection to Reform. @mrmarkdolan

Margaret Thatcher in a BBC World Service interview, 30 Oct 1983, after the US unvasion of Grenada: "We in the Western democracies use our force to defend our way of life. We do not use it to walk into other people’s countries, independent sovereign territories… If you are

Yep. Pretty much agree with every part of Lord Hannan's analysis here.
The Abd El-Fattah case. Some fundamentals: 1. It should not be a crime to Tweet that the British are “dogs and monkeys”, nor that you “really really hate white people”. 2. The government should apply the same standard across the board, including in cases such as Graham Linehan

So much right-wing sh*tposting about King's Speech. Mostly faceless MAGA-worshipping ninnies, spouting bo**ocks, claiming HM said things He didn't say, pretending they're 'British patriots' whilst wishing the overthrow of their Sovereign Lord. Makes me gag. You can all s*d off.

Zarah Sultana has really achieved something. She's actually made me feel almost sorry for Jeremy Corbyn. Imagine trying to set up a serious political movement whilst having to manage this petulant toddler. Must be despair-inducing.
🚨 NEW: Zarah Sultana is boycotting the first day of Your Party conference today after some grassroots members were expelled Spokesperson: “This witch hunt is indefensible. We must build a party that welcomes all socialists. She will not be entering the conference hall today”

"at last" it's crazy how we delight in ditching the things that make us unique. The world will not be better when everyone is in a grey suit.

Today’s borrowing figures show an economy spiralling out of control. Why? Because we have a Prime Minister without a backbone. Too weak to take the difficult decisions needed to build a stronger economy. Only the @Conservatives have a plan to cut spending by £47bn.
Public sector net borrowing excluding public sector banks was £20.2 billion in September 2025. This was £1.6 billion more than in September 2024 and the highest September borrowing for five years. Read the full article ➡️ https://t.co/eoRY2262Vq

I'm not sure why people are opposed to this. Historically, the Office of Lord Chancellor was held by distinguished lawyers and the foremost intellects, including Thomas Becket, Thomas More, Francis Bacon, Quintin Hogg.. It is currently held by David Lammy. The succession (and
Robert Jenrick just announced that the Conservative Party will restore the Office of the Lord Chancellor to its former glory, reversing Blair's constitutional vandalism. That would be a very good thing. #CPC25

Bill Clinton: “In 2000, Palestinians were offered a state on the entire West Bank and east Jerusalem as its capital. Israel accepted, but Palestinians refused. They did not care about a homeland for the Palestinians. All they wanted was to kill Israelis.”

Nothing like bit of political schadenfreude to make one feel better about one's own party woes. Watching 'Your Party' implode before it even really exists has been bracing reminder the Left has always been & will always be a dysfunctional self-defeating band of deluded misfits.

Why are @jeremycorbyn and @zarahsultana agonising so much over what to call their new political party? Their stated policy goals are wealth redistribution, nationalisation & militant trade unionism. Simply 'The Communist Party' would seem to fit the bill. 🤷
