I’m delighted beyond words to receive the 2025 @royalsociety Faraday Prize and Lecture. The Faraday name has real resonance for me-not least after giving the @Ri_Science Christmas Lectures in 2023. And look at the previous recipients 😮🙂
Four Oxford researchers have been recognised in the 2025 Royal Society Awards 🏆 Congratulations to: - Prof Sir Rory Collins - Prof Kayla King - Prof Philipp Kukura - Prof Michael Wooldridge Read more ⬇️

Google may have built a gravity well – capex, custom silicon, and distribution bending the field. I feel the same leap with Gemini 3 that @Benioff describes. Is that game over for competitors? Only if you believe in a “God Model.” You don’t beat mass with more mass– you escape
Holy shit. I’ve used ChatGPT every day for 3 years. Just spent 2 hours on Gemini 3. I’m not going back. The leap is insane — reasoning, speed, images, video… everything is sharper and faster. It feels like the world just changed, again. ❤️ 🤖

I crossed an interesting threshold yesterday, which I think many other mathematicians have been crossing recently as well. In the middle of trying to prove a result, I identified a statement that looked true and that would, if true, be useful to me. 1/3

Its quite astonishing how my time line went from "AGI tomorrow, what do we do?" to "When is the bubble going to burst?" in such a short order! AI may be the only tech that went from "will kill y'all" to "will kill y'all's wealth" in a jiffy..

My acceptance speech at the Turing award ceremony: Good evening ladies and gentlemen. The main idea of reinforcement learning is that a machine might discover what to do on its own, without being told, from its own experience, by trial and error. As far as I know, the first

Great to see @HertfordCollege make the wish list in “My Oxford Year”. We’re a long way below “full English breakfast”, but fair enough TBH.
