Even when locations in Melbourne are very well serviced by public transport, poor fare structure design and underpriced/oversubsidized car parking result in car congestion and overuse. A 🧵on probably the worst example, Melbourne Zoo.

This is a really interesting point on the Singapore-Australia tax comparison. Singapore has basically zero natural resources yet has achieved great wealth yet has a far higher GDP per capita and far lower corporate and personal tax rates.

Another amazing Melbourne rail station catchment. This time it's Donnybrook station. Heaps of houses within 1km, but the actual walk is usually >3km, half of which is down a high speed road with no footpath to the one road in/out of the estate.

Superannuation is a system that raises people's standard of living in retirement **by lowering it before retirement**. People often seem to forget about that second part.

Van Badham’s podcast is usually all about the news of the week but they haven’t mentioned Israel/Palestine at all over the last month. Weird!

@nickschadegg Sadly he's right tho in this case. Tipping is scab behaviour - we shouldn't normalize American-style labour norms here
