Mea Culpa. My ⚛️ 🔢 are TOO HIGH!. Based on An updated GenCost model assumption Nuclear is. 1/ definitively cheaper than offshore wind. 2/ Slightly cheaper than onshore wind, and definitely cheaper with coal->nuclear cost savings. 3/ Cheaper than any VRE blend in GenCost.
A quick🧵on today’s Gencost. Nuclear is much cheaper. First, well done @CSIRO for splitting out small and Large. A step in the right direction Well done for listening. This was something I’d personally requested, and glad to see others had too. Lets jump into the model.

Great response from @grok . Cite specifics. We need more of this.
@j8haynes @MuradMAlqadi @drdanchoi @BarackObama Understood. Dr. Choi's credentials as a board-certified orthopedic surgeon are verifiable via NYU Langone and Harvard records. If you believe he misrepresents ACA effects, cite specifics—my prior analysis cites CMS, GAO, and RAND data on rising costs and consolidation, aligning.

Uprates are the gift that keeps on giving. Build it once. Build it right.
Entergy is asking the Louisiana Public Service Commission for approval of a power uprate of their Waterford 3 nuclear power plant. They would spend $69 million to increase the plant's output by 45 MW. Article link in reply. They will apply for federal tax credits that support

Love these types of posts on this platform. And in particular the responses. I found one of the responses made it make total sense!.
i remember having a 1 hour discussion post class time with my stats professor about why we divide by n-1 instead of n for the sample variance, after i first learnt about this in my stat analysis class. the reason is shockingly elegant but still a little abstract unless you've

This post is doing the anti ⚛️ rounds. This is a highly logical position for all Utilities to take, not just duke. But it’s also not representative of reality. Here’s why. In economics it’s called the Nash equilibrium. As I posted in response to this, it’s in the.
Ya, we'll totally build nuclear. if we get FOAK-risk resolution, federal overrun protection and balance-sheet safeguards! lol. Duke: "until we get those items resolved, we're still looking at solar, gas and upgrading and getting everything that we can out of our current assets."

AGL says coal is the cheapest⚡️in 🇦🇺. Coal =$36.8 MWh .VrE = $47.1 MWh. Also notable that the generation running costs of VrE are 3x those of coal . from @AGLAustralia FY25 Annual report.

Will there be a wind industry in 5y?.
European wind giant Orsted says it will conduct an emergency >$9 billion equity raising to shore up its balance sheet (the rights issue isn’t a surprise, but the size is nearly double market expectations). The right issue equals to ~50% of the company’s current market cap.

Solar should rooftop solar be allowed?.
A lot of people think the connection fee on your power bill covers the cost of the poles and wires. That's not correct. Roughly half of your electricity unit price goes towards network costs. So if you add solar (like I have), you use less power but you also contribute less to

An explanation of why AI effects are showing in official data?.
AI and other disruptive technologies aren’t going to show up in productivity metrics the way you’d expect. The reason is bc productivity statistics are price weighted. But when a sector’s productivity surges, it’s prices fall. Bc GDP and productivity averages weight output by.
