American culture and ideas have almost no reach in Dubai, Istabul, Shanghai, Jakarta, Nairobi, Singapore, Lisbon, Stockholm or Mumbai. You can’t run an empire with London, Toronto and Melbourne
Like this was such a wild thing to have happen, yet it’s only probably the 5th craziest thing to have happened to me between 2021 and 2022, and I completely forgot about it until yesterday as a result.
BREAKING: We just swarmed the field at the Congressional Women's Softball Game. As rooftop snipers aimed their guns at us and Members of Congress begged us to evacuate, we held our ground.
This is an emergency. We act like it. 🧵
New: Rep. Buddy Carter confirms to me that his Fair Tax Act will get its first-ever floor vote as part of speaker talks. Bill abolishes IRS, eliminates tax code, replacing income taxes with consumption tax - rolling back pieces of GOP tax law
It was a demand of the 20 holdouts
Well, it's official. Instead of getting enough new workforce housing for 165 workers (paid for entirely by Vail Resorts!), taxpayers in Vail get to pay $17 million to Vail Resorts in order to stop housing from getting built.
I love local control, very cool system we have here.
Denver is not full.
Boulder is not full.
Fort Collins is not full.
Colorado Springs is not full.
Vail is not full.
Aspen is not full.
Colorado is not full.
It’s time to build more housing so that we can be welcoming to everyone that wants to live in this great state.
What frustrates me the most about the student loan debate is that cancellation not only ignores the 60% of Americans that never went to college — it does nothing to help future college students, unless they plan on continuing to cancel student loans every five years or something.
“Why does the Biden administration keep talking about the unemployment rate?”
I dunno, probably because the average voter is not 19 years old, and they still very much remember when the unemployment rate was 10% in 2009 and it took years for the economy to recover.
Something that’s really funny to think about is that the UAW strike is probably going to be more effective climate action than anything Climate Defiance has ever done.
Holy shit. Holy shit. Holy shit.
This ENDLESS line of soulless bankers was just blocked from getting to work today, as we stood arm-in-arm with our partners to block every single entrance into Citi Bank.
To all the socialists out there that are fully convinced that a lower standard of life is a selling point for socialism — please never stop. I swear you’ll start winning elections soon if you just stick to that message, trust me.
In Biden’s America, my mom is in a position where she can afford to buy a house, for the first time since my family lost our house in the Great Recession.
Communists are such fucking losers. Dark Brandon took off because it was fun and it continues to be fun, and we should just let the wine moms and the resist libs have fun
The housing shortage in Colorado’s ski towns is so bad right now that last year, one school district had to send out a letter to homeowners begging them to open up spare bedrooms for teachers.
It would be mistake to exclude ski towns from the
#MoreHousingNow
bill.

I think it’s bad that anti-social behaviors in the US have been allowed to go completely unchecked to the point that it’s now hurting the experience of other consumers.
I had to go to Walmart.
They’ve put locks on all of the cooking oil.
This country is fucking doomed.
If you support capitalism at this point you’re a death cultist. I’m tired of playing nice.

Great! The rezoning plan passed tonight, as did the ordinance to put a question on the ballot about lifting the golf course’s conservation easement!
Republicans are only winning the NE-01 special election by 4%, despite the district being R+17.
Democrats and moderates are sending the GOP a message — they're angry, and ready to vote.
It’s very clear that people vote based on vibes. The obvious solution to Dems problems is for Bearded Joe to become a thing, because Bearded Joe has the best vibes
Breadth of opposition: The mayor of Sheridan is among the officials in this land use meeting at a Cherry Hills Village mansion. All are opposed to land use. As Sheridan mayor points out, you couldn’t find two more different municipalities.
BREAKING: George Santos reveals that he is actually the infamous Balloon Boy, and that he is now trapped inside the Chinese spy balloon. He asks that no one shoot it down, saying “I’m actually inside it this time guys, I swear, it’s not another hoax”
And yet your neoliberal take on housing relies on the Market for “solutions” and further empowers Wall St and corporate landlords who only care about ROI. As if the further commodification of housing will stop the evictions. Maybe it’s time for anti-speculation housing policies.
Progs need to stop being scared of these idiots and tell them that doing shit like this is counterproductive. Abortion rights activists and LGBTQ activists notably didn’t achieve their successes by protesting Make-A-Wish fundraisers!
Ok serious question though, why do so many buildings in DC and Virginia have these cylinder sections? Like I see them literally everywhere, and I’m not sure if it’s just a popular design choice, or if it’s a zoning thing.
Could we just like maybe, not do things that are going to actively make it harder for Dems to win school board races in the suburban and rural counties where insane wack jobs have been taking over?
I’ve never run from tough questions and I never intend to do so.
I dare anyone find an elected who engages with the people more than I do.
I gladly face the music whether it’s to my liking or not.
Thank you for those who give me strength and encouragement to keep fighting for…
RACE CALL: Pat Ryan (D) HOLDS
#NY19
(Biden +1.5) against Marc Molinaro (R) in a seat vacated by Lieutenant Governor Antonio Delgado, defying expectations of a red-wave Biden midterm flip.
Breaking News: A grand jury in New York has voted to indict Donald Trump over his role in a hush money payment to a porn star, according to four people with knowledge of the matter.
This home in Roslyn Heights was purchased for $2.4M+ in 2021.
The owner pays $38K a year in property taxes.
The home happens to be .5 miles from the train station.
Kathy Hochul thinks she should be able to override local zoning laws to build an apartment building next door.
The fact that Republicans no longer recognize one of our country's most patriotic symbols is very telling about the current state of the Republican party.
Why are these people always Columbia grads?? Like every single time I see one of these insane tweets, it turns out that they went to Columbia to get some $120k graduate degree.
Like seriously, I’m only 21 and even I still remember what it was like for my family back then. My dad lost his job, we lost our home, and it took years for my family to recover, and we honestly never truly did.
A low unemployment rate means job stability! Americans want that!
My newest opinion piece, in
@TheMessenger
: Heading into the 2024 election, Democrats need to be focused on expanding, not shrinking the party tent, and the best way for us to do that will be to invest in building grassroots support for the center-left.
My first opinion column, in the
@ColoradoSun
today: Ski town communities need to face the uncomfortable truth — their NIMBYism has caused the severe housing - and labor - shortages they're facing today.
To think I helped popularize Dark Brandon for free at only 21 years old, and now they want to pay someone $140k for it, but they have to have 10 years of experience lol
Here’s a fun one: we’re looking for a Director of Social Communications to help us meme our way forward and take care of Dark Brandon while they’re at it.
Inquire within.
Republicans: "So long as gas prices and inflation keep getting worse, people will ignore all the problems with our party and still vote for us."
Biden and Democrats: *bring gas prices down and reduce inflation*

Democracy is on the ballot because election deniers are on the ballot. The concern is not that there will be razor-thin margins that fuel claims of election denial, the concern is that there are people on the ballot that would overturn the result of elections if they win.
