I think the fundamental difference between the right and the left in this country is that the left glorifies death - particularly of adversaries and the right does not. And it’s not something I think I really have fully faced until Charlie’s assassination. And it’s petrifying.

I’m not here to litigate the specifics of the story or specific commentary (tho I think take-havers should look up both what a Fiscal Sponsor is and what the DNC does). But there a very few pathways to a durable left-of-center ecosystem without strategies like this.

Whether you’re a leftist, a liberal, a democrat, whatever: we are up against an authoritarian media ecosystem that is well funded and well supported. We will not fix that by “being so good we go viral” or whatever.

They have a platform from which they can influence the conversation online. We don’t. That’s a problem. You may say “I don’t like x, y, z creator that was part of that list.” Cool. A good way to incubate new voices is to invest in them.
