To my science framily, As we reflect on this election season, I want to take a moment to acknowledge that things may not have gone as we had hoped or expected. I wish I was shocked that America did not elect its first woman and woman of color to the presidency but I am angry and

Thanks to my amazing grad student (Megha Raghunathan @sbpdiscovery @SBPCancerCenter ) and postdoc (Tyler DeWitt) #NotOnHere who made the figures, wrote the paper, and read about a billion papers to provide insight into new directions for research into DNA repair and cancer

What do DNA repair proteins do in cancer cells? Repair DNA? Yes! Regulate cell cycle? Maybe you've read about that somewhere? Alter autophagy? Wait, what! Read all about it on our review here https://t.co/IZAIfE1P6A @trendscancer [Our first paper from @SDSU]

Bit late on this (was published end of last year) but came across this interesting paper @eLife using chatGPT to look at bias in peer review language based on gender, i.e. what was the tone of the review? Ans: people are ruder to women. Neat study. https://t.co/uEwK64TYI1

Generative artificial intelligence, such as OpenAI’s ChatGPT, can be used to analyze scientific texts with specialized constructions, including peer review reports.

We should all watch this awesome clip where Tim Walz explains how we win against MAGA: “These guys are just weird…But we’re not afraid of weird people. We’re a little bit creeped out, but we’re not afraid.”

I feel like I could hear Ashi, @MeliD32, Shine Chang, and so many other scientists I look up to saying those words to junior scientists rising up the ranks: walk into a room as if we are all in there with you, but that means we expect you to not be silent ✊🏾🔥

Fantastic work by @PassosLab @HSalmonowicz @MitosRUs and others. Thanks for including us. Now we have at least 3 cytoplasmic DNAs to think about in senescence- Line1, CCF and mitochondrial. What’s the relationship between them?

Today's Nobel is a reminder to focus on the work and not the journal. The key publications cited by the committee were published in Immunity, Molecular Therapy, and Nucleic Acids Research. Respectable journals, but not the Big 3. The discoveries are what's important, not a name.
