When you read any BS on here about medicine and pharma being bad guys think of this. Over the past 50 years heart disease has declined by 70%. To put into context, that is the population of Atlanta saved every year in USA alone.

In a world where there actually people who don’t believe in microbes or DNA because they hate modern science and medicine it’s amazing that a baby has been cured of a deadly disease by therapeutic gene editing using a technology derived from a microbe.

I wonder if those of us who cannot think anything to do other than science, even when it can be painful (as well as giving moments of sheer elation) are in some way socially dysfunctional. I mean most of us scientists are certainly not normal people, of that I am convinced.
