This is a photo from an incident I attended 12 years ago. The man driving the car had filled some petrol containers up and placed them in the boot. The escaping petrol vapour met an ignition source in his car, this was the result. Panic buyers beware!!

Stay strong all of my
@LondonFire
family. We all knew this was coming. No journalist will ever know your bravery that night, the risks you took and the lives you saved. I was there, I saw your exhausted bodies and haunted eyes. No one could have done more.
#GrenfellInquiry
Not my video, but passed to me by a former
@LondonFire
colleague. A house fire in East London a couple of weeks ago caused by an e-scooter lithium battery. The burning batteries 'flaring' causes overpressure which looks like mini-backdraughts!!!
This reminds me of London Firefighter’s in the Blitz in
#WW2
, what Churchill described as “Heroes with grimy faces”. Ukrainian Firefighter’s plunged into a war doing their duty no matter what, as you’d expect. May God bless and protect them and their Countrymen.

I have agreed to do an interview on
@GMB
tomorrow morning at 07:20 to counter some of the unjust media criticism of my
@LondonFire
colleagues over the past couple of days. I hope I am given the opportunity to do justice to all those who tried so hard that night.
What I saw as I walked around the corner that morning three years ago and the twelve hours that followed will always stay with me. Rest in peace all those who died.
34 years ago today, I was a 19 yo recruit Ff ready for his first day on a fire station after training. I had no idea I’d forever share that date with a tragedy that unfolded that evening… The Kings Cross fire. RIP the 31 including Stn O Townsley of Soho
@LondonFire
My Lovely old Mum Bella passed away today after a short illness. A happy and healthy life well lived, as sad as I am, I will celebrate her wonderful life and cherish my memories of her. Rest easy Mum, say hello to the Old man for me. ❤️
Tonight, a Firefighter who was questioning their career choice last weekend, feeling worthless and undervalued, will pull on a BA mask crawl into a hot smoke filled hallway and save the life of someone who has just minutes left to live.
Lots of panic about the high rise fire in
#whitechapel
. It’s done…. The building did what it was supposed to in terms of preventing spread and
@LondonFire
crews did what they do best. Fire now under control, as I knew it would be.
@LBC
@itvlondon
@BBCLondonNews
I’ve tried to ignore it, but I’m sick of the clickbait headlines about
@LFBCommissioner
. I served under 6 Chiefs and Dany was head and shoulders above in her leadership and ability to mend an organisation that had been used as a political football for 15 years. 1/2
I have known Wayne for over 20 years from when he was posted to me at Poplar as a T/Sub O, and we remained colleagues, as senior officers attending several major incidents together. A truly devastating loss to all of us who knew him. This photo is from 8 years and 2 days ago. 😞
"I am deeply sorry to hear of the passing of Wayne Brown. Wayne was a valued and respected colleague in the Brigade for over 20 years before joining West Midlands FRS. Our thoughts go out to Wayne’s family and friends at this difficult time."

My eldest Daughter
@charlottdudeney
has been told today she is
CANCER FREE
Thanks to all of you who have followed her journey over the past 10 months and for all of your prayers and support.
Our Guvnor Dany
@LFBCommissioner
took time out at a large fire to speak with me on my last day of service in July 2018. It was an absolute honour for me to repay that today. You have done more for the London Fire Brigade than the masses will ever know.
Two years ago today I attended this awful fire. Close to the end of my career I thought I’d seen everything... I was so wrong. I will never forget the desperation & sadness of the day nor the immeasurable bravery of my
@LondonFire
colleagues.
#Grenfell
As someone who attended the Grenfell Tower fire, I am sickened that what appear to be normal responsible adults would do this and others standing by condone it. I truly despair, I’d like them to live a minute of what those poor people and my colleagues went through.
Just dug this out of the loft.... it’s still fits, although a bit snug. Was issued this when I joined
@LondonFire
aged 18, getting on for 33 years ago.
Any snide comments about holding my breath and ‘popping buttons’ are from jealous fools. 🤣🚒
This photograph taken at a fire in Poplar, East London back in 2003 by

was from when I first met Wayne, I am on the left, Wayne is second from right. Still can’t believe he has gone.
This is a (borrowed) photograph of Firefighters carrying out a training drill in a typical high rise building with a single staircase.
No smoke, no darkness, no heat, no panic.... just think about that for a moment.... and then remember Grenfell
If you have taken any notice of anything I or others have said about grenfell Tower this week... then this is a must read.
'I was a firefighter at Grenfell Tower. Here's the truth behind the myths'
Firefighters line the Royal Mile in Edinburgh for the funeral of Brother Barry Martin.
Today we mourn the loss of a dedicated member of the community and a brave firefighter. We come together in his honour.
A lot of people have been asking what NILO’s are, following this photo taken In Nottingham last week. Most of them are Firefighters in their ballistic kit, used for Firefighting and assisting medics at terrorism/public order events. The other is a NILO 1/2
The developer of the block in

has confirmed it was over clad in a ‘ventilated’ polyurethane aluminium coated material. Apparently banned in Spain since 2019, but not yet removed. The Firefighters no doubt faced an impossible fight against rapid spread as at

update!!
The final pre-print draft of London Firefighter has been approved and agreed. Having the images incorporated into the book now. Hopefully a publishing date will be agreed soon and everyone who has waited patiently will be able to get a copy.

Have a long and happy retirement Brian, an outstanding Firefighter and a great loss to the job.
Forty Years ago today the Red Watch at Poplar Fire Station were called to a fire on a ship in Limehouse Basin, one of them never returned and others were injured.
Today, as we do every year, we will gather to remember Steve and other absent friends.
2/2. I’ve known Dany for almost 20 years since we were wide eyed young senior officers in our early 30’s. She is an outstanding officer and a calm, experienced Fireground Commander. As entitled to her retirement as any of us were having attained age and length of service.
Feeling guilty with several large fires in my area, I spent some of the evening visiting fire scenes distributing food and drink to
@londonfire
crews. Generosity of the public, local supermarkets impressive. Some off duty
@Ldn_Ambulance
staff brought a car load of supplies.
A year to the day when my daughter
@charlottedude9
got her cancer diagnosis she has just received a job offer for a job with a City Business Consultancy. She’s a little emotional but on top of the world. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Found a blast from my past today, my last pair of yellow
@LondonFire
leggings. From 1989 when my toned 21 year old legs and backside used to slip into them!! 🤣🤣
Eighteen years after I typed the first words on the page, having sat doing nothing for many of those years I finally finished it tonight. 384 pages and 167511 words. No doubt that will change after it is edited, but I’m done.
Now the hard work starts. 😳
I always said I'd write a book about my time in LFB, I started years ago and now have 97,000 words. But I'm still nowhere near all of the stuff I saw later on; 7/7, the 2011 riots, the 2017 terror attacks and of course Grenfell. I just can't get the enthusiasm to finish it?
This is just a mock up of the upcoming book, but keep an eye out for updates and a few teasers on my blog

Not my video, passed to me by a former colleague. One of the blocks in Tower Hamlets that I have been working on to provide Fire plans. This is just days before the plans are put in place. Thankfully no injuries and the job was quickly dealt with.
Three years and a day after retiring from LFB and lots of emails, refusals and Will I, Shall I, Could I?
London Firefighter, my book about my time with LFB is now looking like it will become a reality.
9-12 months away from hitting the street still, I’ll keep you posted
The
#KingsCrossFire
happened on my first day as an operational Ff out of training, it became a tragic marker of my operational career. Today on the 31st anniversary, I remember it for the first time no longer in the Fire Service. RIP those who died, I’ll always remember.
Remembering the 343
@FDNY
Firefighters who were lost 18 years ago on this day and the 204 who have passed with 9/11 related illnesses since. May they all rest in eternal peace.

have taken the time to think of my family during a difficult time. God Bless them all. A proper Fire Service family.
This man..... I was a year old when he joined LFB in 1969 and he has outlived my time with
@LondonFire
as I retired last year. A multiple generation spanning legend.
Group Manager Brian Reardon has notched up 50 years of operational service at London Fire Brigade. Brian is our longest serving fire officer & probably the world's. Congratulations Brian, an incredible achievement and
#London
owes you a debt of gratitude
A surprisingly ‘emotionless’ final role call on my last day. Thanks to all of my
@LondonFire
colleagues from NE area, Special Operations and of course my ‘old station’ which I’ve been a part of since before I joined, the mighty F22 Poplar!!
Unprecedented fires being seen in London today due to the 100f+ temperatures,
@LondonFire
are flat out with every fire engine in use and surrounding counties are also busy so can’t offer assistance. Feel so bad, three major fires within a few miles of me. 😞
If you are a Firefighter, take an hour and ten minutes out of your day to watch this, better than any lecture or ‘click through’ computer training package. Lessons learned and shared better than we ever do.

Things are moving on nicely, the hard work of editing is still ongoing, but had the artwork for the cover come through today, photos used will be courtesy of

The next big step on the journey of 'London Firefighter' has been reached. I have had the edited and proof read manuscript sent back to me today, for my final read through and agreement. Look's like it's getting close to becoming a published book!!!

Fantastic gesture from one group of Firefighters to another… I’m convinced there is no other job with such a deep sense of ‘Family’ than the

You know your close to retiring when you get photos with the bosses twice is as many days at fires.
@LFBCommissioner
@LFBtomgeorge
Us 80’s LFB kids are still smashing it... (just about) 😉
I’ve seen a number of
@LondonFire
accounts this week proudly boasting the use of the Cleveland hose roll. I was recommending this as far back as 2007 but got reprimanded for it. Now it’s obviously a thing... I’d keep it quiet, bit embarrassing so far behind many others.
Just arrived at the wonderful Ff’s Charity

centre in Littlehampton for a 5 day rehabilitation programme following my bike accident in July. We are so lucky to have the FFC facilities across the Country. I’ve never used them before, but always support fundraising!

Hoping for a quiet night. Happy New Year to you all.
A few photos from my retirement bash last night. A fantastic evening with over 250 attending. Truly humbled, thanks to everyone but especially
@NorthEastDAC
for the (embellished 🤣) speech and
@RodneyV66
for overseeing the organising.
Very proud of my
@LFBTowerHamlets
crews along with crews from
@lfbhackney
and
@LFBNewham
I was privileged to attend this as BC for Tower Hamlets in my last few weeks in the LFB. Crews did an outstanding job in aggressively attacking this fire and controlling it rapidly.
Find me a better Fire officer in this Country? Maybe the World. Proud to call Graham a personal friend and one of the few I looked up to at the end of my time with
@LondonFire
A true Gentleman and legend, I echo Dany's words, irreplaceable for LFB.
1/3 AC Graham Ellis retires from
@LondonFire
today after 37 years dedicated service. Graham is an outstanding, professional officer who has worked tirelessly to improve firefighter safety. He is one of the best operational officers I have ever worked with on the fireground.
My Dad Frank would have been 100 years old today. He served in the Royal Navy in WW2 and worked hard in construction for 45 years after the war. I thank him for what he instilled in me to allow me to live a life so much more comfortable than he ever knew. God Bless you Dad.
Happy Retirement to 'Bruv' Tony Biles (centre) after 39 years with
@londonfire
Without a doubt the most experienced Counter Terrorism Officer in the UK Fire Service. So glad to have had TB at my side at so many critical incidents, including Grenfell & the terror attacks
#NILO
Five years today since I retired from
@LondonFire
Can’t believe how quickly that’s gone. I had the best of times, but have made the most of the opportunities since and enjoy a different way of life now.
25th Jan is the date that former and serving members of
@londonfire
F22 Poplar and
@LondonFBU
remember Steve Maynard who was killed on duty on this day in 1980 & those who have passed since. A small number of retired members will visit the memorial today for continuity.
As a retired out of trade member, I fully condemn this ill thought tweet from
@fbunational
and stand in soliditarity with all who undertake the thankless task of being a Police Officer. I support all
@metpoliceuk
@PFEW_HQ
members many of whom I consider friends and colleagues.
Had to go into London today to look at a couple of jobs for a contract I’m doing..... in 40 years of coming up here as a teenager on my bike, a Firefighter and a Black Cab Driver I never imagined London like this in my wildest dreams.
Absolutely cracking quick attack on this rapidly spreading fire. So proud to be part of
@LondonFire
among the best in the World.

As
@FDNY
firefighters dealt with this tragedy overnight, their
@LondonFire
colleagues in another World City across the ocean dealt with a similar tragic fire with 5 killed. No matter where, no matter what, fire takes live indiscriminately and brave people respond to the call.

Two of the World’s biggest and busiest fire services,
@FDNY
and
@LondonFire
are constantly pressing this new rising tide issue. These influential organisations need to be taken seriously on the risk of Li-on battery fires.
So far this year, 18 people have been killed by fires caused by lithium-ion batteries. These fires are dangerous and fast-moving. Just last month, the
@FSRI_org
produced a powerful video demonstrating why it is so difficult to escape from a fire started by a lithium-ion battery.
Absolutely spot on. I dare say LFB are in for a kicking because the inquiry will ‘short circuit’ down the path of ‘least resistance’. But the truth is in everything Dany says here.
Stay strong my former colleagues, I fear 'the establishment' is about to hang you out to dry.
