Bike to Work ride, I experienced the violence I often experience biking in Houston. This driver almost ran me over, I believe intentionally because cyclists were slowing him down.

So what led up to this? The driver had to wait for a minute for cyclists to pass on Lamar, while he waited on Brazos. While he was waiting he was issuing double middles to all the riders.

As a cyclist who’s been hit by a driver running a stop sign, I would currently be dead if it was a pickup truck that hit me. These large flat front grills are killers. I bought a bike from you in 2020, and will never buy from you again if this is your stance.

The people that own this Whole Foods fought turning one leg of Spur 527 into a park, thereby preserving massive stroads. Now it has gone out of business. Maybe a walkable neighborhood would have been better for business?

Perhaps the deepest root cause of Houston’s underdeveloped transit infrastructure and anemic service levels is the General Mobility Program, which transfers 1/4 of METRO’s sales tax revenue to the county and cities to spend primarily on roads. METRO has helped enough.

Just realized that these curb extensions(?) on Hawthorne make a lot of sense. So the oak roots make the sidewalk almost impossible for disabled people. But there is a little ramp connecting the sidewalk to the street in the protected area. Kudos to whoever designed this.

Sometimes Houston parking enforcement is really quick. Complaint submitted 6:41 am, ticket issued 11:30 am. In Montrose it usually takes them 7 days to respond to a 311 item.

I biked up Stanford to pick up some take out at Cooking Girl (A+ Sichuan). I traversed only 2 blocks on Montrose Blvd and took this one photo that shows why improvements are badly needed. Can’t walk side by side, tree topped off for power lines, no curb cut.
