Almost certainly mostly true. But it’s not much comfort to me, honestly, because 1) they’re going to fuck up a lot of shit while flailing and 2) the likelihood that the next Republican president picks up the torch on stuff like NGO crackdowns and probably does it better
Look, I have never doubted they do have authoritarian aims and methods, but I don't think they have the organizational ability or political support to turn this into a Reichstag fire moment. I think they are gonna fuck this up like everything else.

Texas Tech police will not say why they arrested this student, only that she was charged with simple assault -- a class C misdemeanor, which typically does not involve jail time. She spent nearly 24 hours in jail, according to the sheriff's office. #txlege
This is what happened to the person who was mocking Charlie Kirk’s assassination at Texas Tech. FAFO

I’m sorry, but I have to ask this. Why are you wearing a ball gag
Some news: I've been fired from the Washington Post. But my work will continue anyway. https://t.co/bGcYOsQvlI

I feel like some people on the left are really jumping the gun on the Charlie Kirk gunman being a groyper. Unless I’m missing something, we know he’s very online, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a groyper / Fuentes fan.

Been seeing this go really wide in various forms so FYI it’s wrong/disinfo and they all should have been deleted. What actually happened was much stupider: ATF thought three arrows scratched on were the Antifa three arrows but it was a video game thing
After a few followers mentioned they thought this might be referring to manufacturing stamps I had a quick look. Many manufacturers stamp with arrows, ironsights or initials including TRN. This seems like something that anyone in law enforcement should know if they aren’t a

In the immediate aftermath, people felt absolutely gut certain that a right-wing nut fed on DMN editorials had killed JFK. The frothing right now is not helpful. Sometimes you just gotta wait

This spring, @GQMagazine asked me to be a guest editor on this month's new masculinity issue. A roundtable w/ everyone from @stavvybaby to @Schwarzenegger! Survey data showing wild stuff about how men think. And deranged photos of @glenpowell. So stoked this is out in the world!

I had a quick laugh at this, but now I’m lost in a theological quandary… can God be circumcised? If so, who did it?

Cornyn campaign on record now that God has genitals. Now we need Matt to describe them
Sen @JohnCornyn welcomes Rep James Talarico to the race for US Senate, via his spokesman @MattMackowiak

James Talarico undersells it in his interview w/ @daveweigel: he was more active on the stump for Allred than Allred was. Showed up in Amarillo to argue against Cruz in 2024 and the group hosting him tweeted that day "we wonder if there is actually a Democrat running for Senate"

lot thats weird about this but worth noting that Missouri stayed part of America during the civil war mostly because recent German immigrants won a bloody, painful guerrilla war against the people we're now calling "heritage Americans"
My ancestors arrived in Missouri from Germany in the 1840s. Back then, Missouri was as far west as you could go. Think about the kind of people it takes to do that—to build a home on the edge of the known world. Those were the kinds of people our ancestors were. 🇺🇸

one thing the reading public should know more clearly: if you're reading a piece in a major american magazine, there's a good chance it's been factchecked to within an inch of its life. in a book you can basically make stuff up
