This is the utter nonsense that is a HSE payslip for doctors. Other countries (Australia) break down on which dates you worked overtime and how much you are paid for those hours on your payslip @HSELive . Sorting a functioning centralised payroll system is a simple solution here
@sarahjane_oc

@newschambers @IMO_IRL @health_irish Many hospitals make payslips purposely difficult to decipher - therefore you have no idea what you have/haven’t been paid for. All I know is that the final figure is always far lower than I expect and no-one can explain it to me. Most recent example (also on incorrect pay scale):

None of these findings are surprising. I've worked in a hospital where I've had to use up to 5 different computer systems throughout the day. Frail is the word

Damning review from PWC into HSE cyberattack. ⚠️ HSE's "frail" IT system lacks the ability to prevent cyberattacks. ⚠️ Nor does the HSE have the relevant expertise to prevent attacks. ⚠️The HSE never conducted contingency planning for such attacks or loss of infrastructure.

This article highlights how shockingly bad our retention of anaesthetists (and radiologists/medical specialists) in Ireland is. 52% of anaesthetists working in Ireland 5 years after CSCST is abysmal. What's the retention plan @HSELive ?

@JackKavanagh12 They're still paying me equivalent of 120k euro gross salary (200k AUD) as a fellow with an effective tax rate of about 30 percent to work a 40 hour week

@DoctorsOvertime I think every point Aisling made is valid. Its never been more expensive for trainees to up sticks and move around the country every few months. Cost of living escalating rapidly. And terms in Oz are far better. Why not talk about it. I'm looking at 83% pay rise next year (in Oz)

Adding 1000-2000 additional consultants to the HSE would obviously go a long way to solving the massive workload carried by NCHDs & drag us up from last position in OECD countries on consultant numbers per head of population. The 2012 contract has been a complete flop clearly 4/7

@kenbrennan2000 Not sure Ken. I know I paid 60k to UCD for my graduate medical degree and then work seven years for the HSE. Let me guess I should have paid back money to the taxpayer to leave Ireland (to go abroad on fellowship and acquire skills to bring back to Ireland)?

Brilliant thread on what life on ground is like for our brilliant female colleagues and the obstacles that many face. Whole system is unsustainable. Situation is reaching crisis point. Training colleges, @HSELive @HSE_HR need to step up big time..

🧵on the gender pay gap in Irish medicine. Medical training was designed for a 1950’s upper middle class male with a SAHM wife. Most training schemes force trainees to move away from their base for at least a year… consider this from a modern mother’s perspective:

They haven't cared to ask what specialty training I am going to receive abroad and what are my plans for returning. Who is in charge of retaining staff in the HSE. If there is a person or department what are they doing day to day? 5/5

This reads like a bad joke. Almost a year since key resignations from Slaintecare Implementation Advisory Council. Is there a plan to address our staffing levels @HSELive ?

1/2 🚨 Ireland has the lowest number of medical specialists per 1,000 population in Europe at 1.59, 38% below the EU average of 2.56. Ireland would need an additional 5,000 medical specialists to achieve the EU average number of specialists on a population basis.

4/ emergency tax, incorrect pay and many many other issues. It would be nice if this pay restoration was sorted before then. When people ask me am I coming home after I travel abroad to complete my fellowship training it's things like this that make me stop and think

@MarkPaulTimes @higginsdavidw @LeoVaradkar @SimonHarrisTD Hi Mark. I'm an ICU doctor. Our intensive care is running roughly 20 percent over usual capacity. When you say 'reaching limit as a useful strategy' I dont understand what you are talking about. We are saving hundreds if not thousands of lives with the measures we have implemented

Can't see how @HSELive is going to attract staffing numbers needed across the Dublin hospitals with this housing situation. This tweet reads like a joke..

You need income of over €130,000 to quality for a mortgage to buy an average-priced house in Dublin. This means that you need to be: - in the top 15% of income earners in Ireland. - in the top 6% of income earners in Europe. Let that reality sink in.

@PatLeahyIT solution to fixing our dire recruitment and retention crisis is not to force people to stay. I presume you believe journalists' taxpayer funded education should also lead them to giving back X years of service along with teachers engineers accountants etc..

Surely the question of requiring some years’ service in Ireland by health professionals in exchange for their very valuable training must come on the agenda at some stage.
