I get lots of messages each month from people whose purchase of a house is held up with legal issues like probate not cleared, deeds not there, etc. Can take months even years. Homes should not be allowed to be advertised for sale unless they're legally ready to be handed over.

This is absolutely scandalous. This is a development in Mayo. Another reason why we need sale-agreed contracts. This should be illegal. People have sold their home, ready to sign contracts the next day and all of a sudden their new home is gone and they've nowhere to live. Awful.

So that's €450,000 per home, all given to private landlords and at the end of the 25yrs the state will own absolutely nothing. What a terrific waste of money. They should be building social homes, not leasing them.
