Crack house or BC Ambulance station? On tonight’s @GlobalBC #NewsHour at 6: The @BC_EHS station so dilapidated it’s been deemed uninhabitable, leaving a Lower Mainland municipality of 45,000+ without an ambulance station. #bcpoli

So at this point, a costed platform is still missing & the BC Conservatives' education plan is being rewritten on the fly With healthcare arguably the #1 issue for #bcpoli voters, we still haven't seen that plan; their website has near zero detail General voting day is Saturday
Some significant changes to the @Conservative_BC education platform yesterday from its first emailed release (left) to a rewritten version on its website (right). - Deleted "remove classroom material that instills guilt based on ethnicity, nationality or religion" to "ideological

in all seriousness: it’s relatively unhelpful for hospitals to ask practitioners to limit IV fluid administration to patients who need it. we do that allready. if you want to limit IV fluid use we need an oral rehydration alternative.

I for one am looking forwards to improvising volume resuscitation with a continually rotating bevy of weird fluids. what do we have today? plasmalyte? one third normal saline with phos? 5% albumin? hetastarch? gelofusine? 23% saline drizzled over D5W? LFG

That’s right, a goat was found wandering the streets in Vancouver’s E. Broadway area last night. Some of #VancouversFinest were able to corral & bring it to an officer’s family farm, while we track down the owner. #Why? #SeenItAll #NeverADullMoment

hard cosign 👇 occasionally see shock w/ *hypertension* in PE. compensatory response w/ massive catecholamine output causing vasoconstriction & HTN. often also see: -lactate and/or AG elevated -diaphoresis/clammy -tachycardia -pt feels unwell -echo/ct/ecg scary
@jameshorowitzmd Wissam Jaber is highlighting your work showing that over 1/3 of NORMOTENSIVE patients in FLASH had “subclinical” shock (CI<2.2) - All us crit care docs have been preaching for years that perfusion isn’t only about BP !

Why does this keep happening? Several reasons but the big factors are poor long-term planning by govt, and a growing number of healthcare workers saying no to OT I can't emphasize this enough: BC's healthcare system has been propped up by overtime hours https://t.co/u7XBV9V4P6

With new Govt plan GPs are paid $130/hour and GPs cover all expenses, leaving them with about $91/hour—same as fridge technicians. Complex patient appointments, lasting 30 mins, pay $57 minus expenses = $40 per visit- same as a barber. Let's face the facts @dockevinmcleod
Recent physician agreements in British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and Nova Scotia are increasing access to team-based primary care and attracting physicians to the primary care sector through better working conditions. Learn more: https://t.co/Mx94ytYShK

You know what makes me angry? When I admit a patient with metastatic cancer who’s unlikely to survive… and if that patient had been able to access a family doctor and simple routine screening tests they would have been most likely cured months ago. Now it’s too late. This

Today we honour the memory of #paramedics Andreas Goedicke and Wendy Thompson, along with Dr. Jeffrey Dolph and pilots Daniel Jorgensen and Geir Zinke. They died on this day in 1995 when their air #ambulance plane crashed near Masset, killing everyone aboard. #LODD

Our health is fragile, we need a strong healthcare system. We need less administration + overpaid vice-presidents. I’ll be louder this year. We need nurses, doctors + all healthcare workers to be healthy, safe + respected. And happy. 8/9 #bcpoli
