Best part about parades is that you run into old friends. I was sent this by Marcus' mom. She reminded me that Marcus & I had a picture together 15 years ago when he was in kindergarten. Same parade, same location.

Not unusual to see this, pretty sure any response I give won't appease you. We have meetings like everyone else: debrief calls, discuss a crime project & often meet in their districts to be close to calls. Or could be just to get out of the heat for a few mins & I'm OK with that.
Cst. Jesus and PSD Gibbs responded to a theft of a scooter. When the team had the suspect in their sights, the rider drove the scooter into the pair and knocked Cst. Jesus to the ground. Gibbs came to his partner's defence and captured the offender.

Driving to dinner & see a police car stopped with emerg lights on. Sgt Gailus was running down the street trying to rescue a small dog dodging traffic. With a sandwich in hand,she tried to entice the dog. Thru Covid & tough times, great to see small acts of kindness everywhere.

isn't an option for frontline officers. A violent offender running from officers was tackled with help from an alert off-duty police sgt., when she noticed officers in a foot chase. Great job keeping the DTES safe. Spot the hammer he had tucked in his pants.
Tonight, one of

chased after a cyclist who stole some tools. After a brief chase, the man abandoned the bike but continued running. Without missing a step, the officer 'borrowed' the bike and was able to chase down the would-be thief.

It's been a long day and week for our officers who have been policing the protests in
@CityofVancouver
. Trying to balance our democratic rights and disruption to the public, is not an easy task. Trying our best to be professional and respectful to all sides, while we do our jobs.
The public often ask why sometimes we respond with what seems like a lot of officers. Fair question. Aside from assaults on officers taking place ~every 3 days; this👇🏻was seized from 1 rooming house few days ago byTeam 1/7.

Policing protests & demonstrations are always one of the most challenging parts of our work; but protecting constitutional rights to free speech is one of the most important things we do. Our decision to not make arrests at the time doesn't mean arrests won't happen.

Just heard officers on the police radio asking the dispatcher to try & find shelter space for a homeless couple. Occurs dozens of times/day. Despite what some suggest we're

. Our beef isn't with the most vulnerable, it's with criminals who victimize all communities.
Man barricaded himself, flooded his apt and tried to jump from the 8th flr apt. Took 5 hrs & help from our rappel officers to bring him into custody. Across town another barricaded man with a knife kept us at bay for 4 hrs, before he too was safely arrested

During an incident in the 1100 blk Hornby, a man with a hatchet was seen chasing another man. Comments suggested we didn't do anything about this. We did: he was arrested short time later with a number of other weapons. We get 50+ arrests / day, tough to report on every call.
