Scotland’s First Minister just met a very welcoming Nancy Pelosi in the US on her Stateside tour. Not a peep from the BBC. Even on Scottish BBC. If it had been UK Prime Minister would have been all over the news in fervent Union Jack waving glory.
UK Government - whose party hasn’t won an election in Scotland for half a century - tell the Scottish Government - whose party haven’t lost an election for over a decade - that they don’t have a mandate from the Scottish people 🤔 🏴
Scot Gov passed legislation protecting children’s rights. UK Govt now going to court to challenge. If you weren’t sure who to vote for in May to literally protect your family’s future this seems a powerful symbol.
If the case for the Union is so strong why don’t they lead with that, rather than bullying us with ‘you’re not allowed to decide your own future’? 🤔

You might not hear it in news much, but Scotland’s water is nationalised; railways too (all fares off peak to June). Public before shareholders. And no Junior Doctor strike after deal. Hear lot of ‘Scot Gov bad’ stories trumped out. Less of these things public actually want.
Main page of
@BBCNews
no mention in headlines of massive independence march in Edinburgh today, which Scotland’s First Minister stuck his neck out & attended. Instead we learn King Charles is sporting a new tartan.
Is this legit? Not sure as cannot now find the original tweet. Hope not & apologies to Dave Brown if it’s not real. As this apparent xenophobia would be quite something. Would it be ok if it were Jamaica or India? If not why ok with Scotland? Arguably crosses into misogyny too.
You need know NOTHING about rugby to see that this is an absolute shocker. Scotland denied victory over France as refs reckoned the ball wasn’t on the ground looking at this photo you see now. What do you reckon? 😟 🏴 😱
@Scotlandteam
Scotland v England felt like a friendly. It should be. Until an English bloke (judging by the t-shirt) spat ‘I’d rather be a pakki (I’ve no idea how to spell that & don’t want to Google) than a Jock’ in my face. In Scotland’s largest, most welcoming city. Lot going on there.
Some suggest
@BBCNews
are at best inconsistent with their coverage of the country of Scotland. To be fair, they’ve got 100% of Scottish place names wrong here 😂
So committee members who protest they’re incensed Sturgeon didn’t follow procedure are releasing details of supposed committee findings before they are published? 🤷
Morning run to clear the Sturgeon blues. Independence ‘issue’ cannot be addressed until mainstream media & Westminster move from demonising Salmond, Sturgeon etc, to addressing reasons people living in Scotland choose to vote for
@theSNP
. Seems blindingly obvious, but never done.
Not sure pride is what I’m feeling with this clip. Definitely feeling something. These are my people &

@TravWriters
Interesting that
@BBCScotland
chose three questions in a row last night that were anti-independence/Ref 2. Audience representative of population that for 20-odd polls have shown desire for independence? Or was the choice of questions the issue? Either way not good look for BBC.
Been looking for an oasis in these troubled times? I just found a deeply special, life affirming one right here in Scotland!

Wow! Wow! Wow! This is the most incredible
@UKLabour
video I have ever seen. It completely eviscerates 12 years of conservative Government. And what is so astonishing about it is it’s all done by Conservative MP’s! It should be playing on a loop
The Heart of Neolithic Orkney is a UNESCO wonder. Much of it older than Stonehenge, a riot of whole villages, mysterious tombs, vaulting stones & a henge larger than its southern sibling 🤩 🏴

I write about Scotland A LOT. But sometimes how remarkable it is just stops me in my tracks. This beauty, a single loch, holds more water than all the lakes in England put together. Add in Wales? Nope - epic 🏴
Forget being squashed into a corner on a crowded train. Cyclists now have their own carriage en route to Oban, where a world of Argyll cycle routes await. Nice one

Westminster just signalled it believes it should be capable of blocking anything the democratically elected Government of Scotland - of whatever political hue - does. Let that sink in whatever you think about the Gender Recognition Act.
Utterly spectacular walk from Berwick to Eyemouth. Scenery just got better & better deeper into Scotland I delved. Scotland starts here with a real flourish! 🥾 🏴

? Boat fresh - just landed as we cycled on our ace

bikes here! You just don’t get seafood like this in city restaurants. Needs no condiments; no fuss. With a crisp Burgundy, heaven 🦞

One of most remarkable things about Labour heading for huge UK majority is no one in Scotland needs to vote for them to keep Tories out. And we can retain left centre policies on rail, council tax, free prescriptions, poverty alleviation & free education majority here want 😊 🏴
Gorgeous evening with the welcoming locals celebrating Johnsmas on Papa Westray. Didn’t make it all the way through the night walk; settled for sun refusing to set at the fabulous Knap of Howar.

Northern Ireland & Scotland both voted against Brexit. NI retaining access to the EU single market in the new Windsor deal. Can we have single market access too please? Asking for a country.
Never really explored Callendar Park properly since I was a wee laddie. Don’t think house was open then. What a joy!

Antonine Wall runs through, lovely local history museum Callendar House & epic homebaking in tearoom. A glorious green lung 👏

first class ticket to enjoy great service, food & drink. Tasty lunch with route produce. If I didn’t mind too many adjectives sneaking into my article I’d even have some wine. All for £15 👏

Money literally where your mouth is. Sturgeon just published her tax returns as requested. Her one income is First Minister. Let’s have all of Scotland’s & UK’s party leaders publish theirs. Could be interesting…
Ease off the main Heart of Neolithic Orkney trail & further treasures await without the crowds. Broch of Gurness (and village) with lovely lady welcoming us a joy & clambering inside the Cuween Hill Chambered Cairn otherworldly.

The West Lothian Question has just been dramatically answered. In reverse. On steroids. Scotland has spoken with its Gender Recognition Rights bill across all politics hues & been telt where tae go by Westminster. Genuinely shocked 😮 🏴 🇬🇧 Where now?

Unpopular opinion alert: Edinburgh-Glasgow Queen Street train is as good as anything I’ve been on around Europe. Fast (44 mins) swishy & good Wi-Fi. Scotland’s TGV !

As the only other part of the UK to vote to stay in the EU can we have a similar lucrative dual market deal as Northern Ireland has just snared please? Asking for a country 🏴
Seafood platter at Port Charlotte Hotel on Islay at very table I’ve eaten at 5 times over years. Great place to stay for wee autumnal or winter island escape. 25 mins flight from Glasgow to enter a world of big skies, great food, rich layers of history & yes, a wee dram.
On the most northerly inhabited isle in the UK overlooking its most northerly isle. More puffins & gannets than people. One of the best hikes in Scotland in
