Sir Walter Scott was born #OnThisDay in 1771 and features in Panel 82. He is still well regarded today for his novels and poems, but #DidYouKnow he was also involved in the rediscovery of the Crown Jewels of Scotland and the 1822 visit of King George IV to Scotland!

We were pleased to welcome in members of the 51st Pentland Wildfire Explorer Scouts into the gallery earlier this week. The group are taking part in a camp locally and visited the Gallery as part of a treasure hunt around Galashiels!

Prior to being the Comedian we know today, Billy Connolly worked at a delivery driver, first on his bike delivering books and later in a van, delivering for a bakery, before starting an apprenticeship as a boilermaker for a shipyard. He features in panel 147 “Scottish Comedy”

#Onthisday in 1745 Bonnie Prince Charlie first made landfall in Scotland. on the 23rd April 1745, Prince Charles Edward Stuart, accompanied by only seven supporters, landed at Coilleag a Phrionnsa on Island of Eriskay from the French frigate Du Teillay.
