I have never seen a single person in science work more tirelessly for their trainees, but half of Dr. Hinton’s talk was about the mentors that supported and sponsored him. The message was clear: he can only do what he does today with his team because there was a team behind him.
Why do HBCUs have separate rankings? HBCUs should be considered some of the greatest institutions in the world. They have trained the majority of black scientists that went on to be successful at Tier 1 SCH. The system frowns upon HBCUs, but will recruit there.

I got married recently! I must say there is more to life than just working hard; I’m excited that
@EdgarGa47227368
and I are happily married. We met during the beginning of our postdocs. I cannot wait to take a honeymoon on a beach. 🏳️🌈🥼🧪🧫🔬🧬🥳💖
Yes, God! I have one more interview to go and two site visits. Then, I will sign someone's competitive contract by Oct 1st. I am excited that I will be somebody's new Asst. Professor. I cannot wait to share the official news. This weekend, I am celebrating with my inner circle.🥰

I was told that my HBCU did not provide enough rigor to compete for a PhD @ a summer internship. PhD and Postdoc thus far: 19 publications, 50 awards, 44 invited talks, and mentored 40 students. Stop telling black people they can't succeed: HBCUs raise champions

Over the last two weeks it has been a lot. Family members are sick. My great nephew died ! COVID didn’t even allow my dad or me to hold him. Please make sure you get the opportunity to get vaccinated, mask up & be cautious. love every day like it’s your last ♥️.

How many black Nobel Prize winners are there (16)? twelve in Peace (75% of the black recipients), three in Literature (18.75%), and one in Economics (6.25%). None are in STEM or Medicine. Will there be one in our generation? I hope so !!

"Vanderbilt is launching a $100 million faculty hiring initiative that will allow us to recruit approximately 60 new faculty... Named “Destination Vanderbilt,” this initiative supports new faculty hiring...and will be in addition to existing faculty hiring plans."
Thank you everyone for your support! The faculty meeting presentation was good! The Q&A was very interesting & challenging! My department has some very insightful thinkers! It was the first time I felt completely like a faculty. Still struggling to overcome my imposter syndrome
Tomorrow is my first department faculty talk! My lab is eating Dinner and practicing the talk tonight ! Thanks 🙏 for listening 👂!!

After this year's Christmas in NC (social distancing in a hotel), I'm ready to run my lab, conduct high quality research, mentor, & teach, but do it in style. You gotta love when your family knows what to get you: bow ties, handkerchiefs, black & proud shirts, & sweaters
Congratulations to Antentor Hinton, PhD, who was recently honored with a UI Diversity Catalyst Award in recognition of the inclusive community Hinton cultivates in the Abel Lab. Learn more about Dr. Hinton’s recent accomplishments:
I challenge colleges & univ that are looking to recruit new black and brown faculty, to not hire us alone. We are scared, we are worried about our safety, and we need to know our lives matter. I'll be honest, I'm tired of black lives being lost daily and nothing is done about it
I am excited to be featured in the

During my postdoc, I was at a conference, and an individual asked, are you mixed? They went on to say; you are far too articulate, too cultured about other places besides the US, and you know more than one language.
