A huge thank you to Justin Turner @redturn2, The Dodgers, and Little Bigs Shots for featuring my son Dylan showing off his knowledge of Baseball facts. Justin is a class act, and is just as kind and down to earth when the camera isn't rolling!

It’s shocking how many brands simply forgot how to market to a fellow human being in the last year. Click here, offer here, sale on this, chase a conversion, follow this exact email flow, text this, blah, blah, blah. Bring back beautiful, thought provoking marketing, please!

When optimizing your site there's a great mental model around local vs global maximas. A local maxima is the highest point (or points) you've achieved historically, whereas the global maxima is the highest point you can achieve at any point in time....

2/ Case in point: this second-hand copy of The Essays of Warren Buffet that I paid $4 for. Recently when re-reading, I randomly opened to the title page. There I was stunned to find the signature of the Oracle himself. New treasures lie in old books indeed.

1/ Rather than always reading new books, recently I've focused on re-reading old treasures. Not surprisingly, each time I re-read books, I find I retain the lessons better the 2nd time. I also sometimes find new treasures I didn’t notice before.

5/ PPP will go down as both a failure to the businesses that truly needed it, and as a massive fraud exploited by banks and businesses that should never have taken the funds.

4/ Maybe. But I sleep better knowing my business will live and die on the merits of our actions, not on taking handout money that should have gone to others. Could you go take free food from food bank? Sure. But should you?

3/ This is despite the fact that the loan/grant requires to you attest that it "is necessary for your business to continue operating." Needless to say, I declined. Was this stupid and idealistic of me?

2/ I asked him, "Wasn't the program designed for businesses at risk of laying off their workforce? Those whose revenues have been serious impacted?" "Justin, it's basically free money." he replied. "All my clients are doing it, regardless of whether or not they are hurting."

1/ Got a text from my JP Morgan Chase banker today. He offered me a way to cut in line with an application for the Paycheck Protection Program. I had already told him our businesses didn't need the handout, we were doing just fine post-COVID...

A school superintendent said something profound in his address cancelling school for the next 3 weeks. He said: In the end, it will be impossible to know if we overreacted or did too much, but it will be QUITE apparent if we under reacted or did too little. Hear those words....

Need something to do in quarantine? @nntaleb's "Black Swan" is required reading. Not only did he point out the inevitability of this pandemic (in 2007), but also provides unparalleled framework for dealing with uncertainty. I'm on my 4th read.
