It was the 4th pitch of the AB, he is standing right in front of the Jays dugout. Don’t you think if they thought his lead wasn’t what they wanted it to be, they would have said something? I’ve told guys to get bigger leads from the dugout 100’s of times. #Philosophy
@redturn2 @cwillaert I’m sure IKF is a great teammate. Locked in. Hustles. But it’s absolutely fair to question why the lead was so small and why he didn’t slide headfirst or run through. It made the difference.

The emotion in this is urging everyone to get on IKF and say if he had a bigger primary or secondary he would have been safe. The reality is he played it by the book, by the philosophy, and Rojas made a great play. It’s painful, but yes, it is a game of inches. #FreeIKF

This was my next point & highlights the whatifisms of die hard fans. U can’t be mad that you were over aggressive to end game 6 and at the same time be mad you weren’t aggressive enough in game 7. I get it, it so easy to play it back over and over. Players don’t have that luxury.
@redturn2 Lot of experts here. They also got doubled up to end the game very recently as well. Plenty of blame to go around.

This gives another hitter a chance to come thru with the bases loaded and 2 outs. A line drive double play in that situation is 1000 times more of a momentum swing than a ground ball to the second baseman that results in a force out for the 2nd out of the inning.

However, the assumption is, with a force play at home, most likely if an infielder catches the ball, the runner will be out at home. Therefore, you shorten up and don’t increase the risk of being doubled up on a line drive.

you’re supposed to get doubled up on a line drive. What’s the difference and why is the philosophy different? I think traditionally it is considered a much tougher play and higher chances of being safe with a great break when there IS NOT a force play at home.

Gonna chime in on this base running with IKF. To several former players point, the philosophy with the “bases loaded” is don’t get doubled off on a line drive vs runners at “second and third” or “third” with infield in where it’s a contact play, good lead, aggressive secondary,

Crazy thing to think about, no matter how bad your postseason has been, you can make everyone forget about it tonight with one swing! #LiveInThePresent #WorldSeriesGame7

📊 Blue Jays 2024–2025 Hitting Report Everyone talks about bat speed… but that’s not what changed the Jays. In 2025, they hit harder — not because they swung faster — but because they sequenced better, stayed square longer, and used the whole field. ✅ EV up 1.6 mph ✅ Barrel
