Absolutely! Listening to the team - if they think it needs changed then action is required. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it! Until you have the context of the school figured out, change for change sake is a terrible idea.
The first job of any incoming head of department is to do...nothing. Take your time. Figure things out. Don't rock the boat until you've identified the thing that really needs changing. That applies to anything: booklets, T&L, starters, homework platform, admin...whatever.

@mrs_mcadam There is no mainstream school in the country where 60% of children cannot bring a pen for the reasons you've mentioned. If you want, you can DM me the school and I'll check out its data, but I find it extraordinarily difficult to believe, given that schools with 60%+ PP seem to

Some schools were dual presenting entire cohorts, which is not supposed to happen. Indeed, the SQA have written to schools to say this should not be happening. They should be looking to the reason *why* schools were doing this in the first place.

We want to give pupils a chance to attain at a higher level but need a fallback. The fallback has been removed and since an N4 pass has more tariff points that N5 units, it makes sense to dual present pupils who are looking borderline to pass the exam.
This is one of those things that's a wee bit technical, and might seem unimportant, but actually has a huge impact on schools and pupils. ScotGov urged to act after huge rises in Nat4/5 dual-presentation. https://t.co/GiqgXu7azi
