Ending the flight season on a high for this farm as a milestone is reached with the expansion of black veined moth across the landscape ; a first sighting of the moth on a block of restored & created species rich grassland hopefully heralding its colonisation of new valley system

Hop to it Caloptilia fidella, a species which is spreading across Kent. The leaf mines and cones can be found now on Hop. Look for the different shaped leaves where the larva has formed a cone which it secures with silk (indicated by the black arrows). https://t.co/LW9cJ9ki5R

Mothing in VC16 West Kent tonight turned up three Marsh Mallow Moth. All three flew in at circa 9pm with none being seen on the food plant. Glow Worm was a nice bonus.

Two migrant moths last night here in North Kent amongst several thousand Caddisflies. Never has anything like those numbers in the traps here. Anyway, Convolvulus Hawk Moth and P. vitrealis. @MigrantMothUK @mothsinkent
