Life finds a way update: 'Extinct' moth rediscovered at Kent nature reserve 73 years after last recorded sighting. Tiree Twist moths have been spotted at Kent Wildlife Trust’s Lydden Temple Ewell Reserve near Dover.

Despite being a relatively common moth in the South East, this was our first Red-belted Clearwing since 1995.

Time to kill on Stansted Airport run yesterday, did a bit of daytime mothing at Bat Willow Hurst CP. Dozens of species both adult and early stages. @EssexMoths @bc_cambs_essex @savebutterflies

Neosphaleroptera nubilana - saw small clouds of these flying above Hawthorn yesterday. In the Mid Stay car park at Stansted Airport. One was potted to confirm ID. @EssexMoths

Hop to it Caloptilia fidella, a species which is spreading across Kent. The leaf mines and cones can be found now on Hop. Look for the different shaped leaves where the larva has formed a cone which it secures with silk (indicated by the black arrows). https://t.co/LW9cJ9ki5R

Mothing in VC16 West Kent tonight turned up three Marsh Mallow Moth. All three flew in at circa 9pm with none being seen on the food plant. Glow Worm was a nice bonus.

Two migrant moths last night here in North Kent amongst several thousand Caddisflies. Never has anything like those numbers in the traps here. Anyway, Convolvulus Hawk Moth and P. vitrealis. @MigrantMothUK @mothsinkent
