It was worth staking it out this evening for the Spotted Crake on the Dragonfly Pools of all places! It took an age but patience paid off with amazing views of it out in the open for a few minutes.

Red-necked Phalarope still present today whilst a Spotted Crake on the Dragonfly Pond was somewhat of a surprise. After 30 years without a 'twitchable' bird this is our second in a month.

Witnessed migration in action @Sandwichbirdobs with Meadow Pipits, Siskins and Hirundines a constant feature overhead. Pied Flycatcher, Goldcrests, Firecrests in the bushes and a crowd-pleasing White-tailed Eagle drifted south over the Observatory #kentbirdmigrationday

This Southern (or Twin-spotted) Bush-cricket, Gryllus bimaculatus, was an unusual record from the moth trap last week. Presumably an escape, but no pet stores or reptiles kept anywhere near Sandwich Bay. How far do they wander?

An opportunity today to catch up with my third new macro of the year with a Sorcerer courtesy of the superb @Sandwichbirdobs. Many thanks again! Casual birding there yielded Whinchat & 9 Cattle Egret. At home in the garden trap, Lunar Underwing moved the yearlist onwards. 😀
