The stats don’t lie—you love music. You listened to it this year. Your favorite type of music was songs! You played a song on your phone.

This year was crazy, by far the craziest of my life. Worked my ass off to make shit happen for myself. This is gonna be a thread of interviews I'm proud of from this year. Next year's gonna hit even harder. First up, Kristen Stewart: https://t.co/FK5wQR7gHm

Kristen Stewart sits down with The Playlist to discuss her surreal heady rom-com 'Love Me,' starring herself and Steven Yeun.

"An emerging set of critics worried that complex, experimental culture was inherently elitist, deployed by the educated to make everyone else feel inferior." Good piece here, in part about the unanticipated consequences of "poptimism." https://t.co/iULfwjTE7R

For @WIRED, I wrote about this week's stomach-churning Mad Men snafu, and about the larger perils of transferring classic shows into new formats:

The errors in one of the most beautiful shows ever made continue a modern tradition of reformatting things that are better off left alone.

I do know I am an extremist on this issue and I don’t apologize. I believe any and all usage of AI should be met with contempt, public shaming, and frankly, execution
Apparently this video has all of X in a frenzy. If it had come out before the AI era, people would be fawning over it as great art, but now they are so clicker trained that any mention of AI sends them into a verbiage frenzy and they anoint anything AI related as slop.

what people don’t realize is that to write is to think. by outsourcing your writing you are outsourcing your thinking. you are paying for the degradation of your own mind. don’t use AI to “structure” your thoughts. structure them yourself. a shortcut to nowhere
I believe that in a decade or so basic writing skills will be considered an exceptional talent due to everyone depending on AI to write things for them. And you can join this future league of ‘writers’ by merely refraining to dumb down your brain by relying on AI for words.

We got to make using AI to figure out personal gifts a social crime. Most gifts suck to begin with but now you’ve literally taken the thought out of it’s the thought that counts
