@pjsantoro Picking up your friends from LAX is an important cultural practice. Really you’re problematic if you don’t.

@simonbreak The Locals have been hoarding the pleasurable travel experience that is LAX to themselves for too long. No longer should travelers have to suffer long waits at Burbank.

@steviemctweets Yeah the whole industry’s gonna have to be a lot leaner going forward. Head count growth is not the flex it used to be.

Now that TikTok has hit 1 billion users I want to give a special shout out to the man responsible for everything you don’t like about the app and also the black wealth gap. Congrats @JoshuaOgundu

@jefbrr @cliffordcatfish @lepetitereboot Yeah I had friends at Twitter, so it definitely wasn’t a dig. The point is, a lot of tech folks (myself included) expected this site to literally crash due to the huge cuts that were made. And it’s time to acknowledge that that didn’t happen.

@basedtolkien Yeah I didn’t expect this to pop off. I was really just thinking about how a lot of industry folks (myself included) said this app would crash and burn with so much institutional knowledge being cut, and how that wasn’t the case, and that no one is willing to admit it in public.

@JoshuaOgundu Eh. If you’re high performing you can get a job somewhere else. If my employer tried to force me to go back in, I’d put in my resignation pretty quickly.

@lepetitereboot Oh zero companies should follow in Musk’s example. The reputation of the brand is in the gutter, advertisers left so the website STILL isn’t profitable despite the cuts, and the pay-to-play blue checks have noticeably destroyed the quality of the content here.

Hill I will gladly die on: non-black people should never have started using the term “woke” and their misuse of it has divorced it of all meaning.
This Anti-woke, anti-cancel culture business went from a concern about soft or creeping totalitarianism to its own sort of all-encompassing, nearly totalitarian thought: every issue, every topic is now threaded through that one issue;.

@Frediculous @whitemaleman1 This exchange makes me feel like I’m watching a modern man trying to communicate with a freaking cave man.

@onigbindejoao Look. When that muskmobile got on here and fired everyone I was pretty confident the app wasn’t going to run AT ALL in a year. Yeah, it’s devolved into a racist cesspool but I’m surprised the servers still work at all.

Still thinking about the man that followed @JoshuaOgundu and I around LA live last night asking us to freestyle. And yes, he was.

Yeah i originally intended this tweet for my limited audience of mutuals/tech engineers and it was clearly a mistake to broaden past that circle. If you interpreted the response to this tweet or the 70% drop in valuation as a sign to replicate you’re a fucking idiot.

@dunkhippo33 @DelJohnsonVC Del’s thesis is quite simple: the nepotistic, patronage model and social structure of VC is what leads to its inaccessibility to poor and underrepresented folks and ultimately its underperformance as an asset class. So it makes sense for him to push back against that thread.

@generalquixote @steviemctweets Oh that too. I think Stevie and I were thinking about early-to-mid stage startups, where oftentimes the founders are relatively underpaid or even forgo a salary.

@ricburton I’m cracking jokes, this is Twitter. If you want to talk customers and business we’ll meet up in SF like civilized human beings. Otherwise please stop being off putting in my mentions.

.@lastpositivist @OlufemiOTaiwo can y’all write a survey style book (or at least a Google Doc or something) introducing black philosophical concepts and topics for the everyday (black) person. I would pay serious money for all my friends and I to have something like this.

This becomes immediately obvious when you see some of the crappy apartments people are paying $3K+ for in the Mission.
In America, we allocate housing by your ability to pay. Blocking new housing for rich people who can pay high prices just means that they’ll outbid the poor for existing homes. Stopping new construction doesn’t stop gentrification, it accelerates it. This is the lesson of SF.

To put the Facebook comparison into perspective, there are 689,000 active Ethereum wallets. Facebook serves over 3.5 billion users, or ~5000x the number of users at 1/3 the cost.
Ethereum's emissions are three times bigger than huge centralized services like Facebook (serving billions of people on 7.2TWh/year). The corresponding emissions can be compared 2-3 coal plants, or 500 thousand people in the USA, or 4.2 million people in India.

@JoshuaOgundu Nah if I moved to Texas, got married, and my employer tried to force me to move back to the Bay, I’d just get a job at Facebook or another remote first company. I’m not sacrificing my marriage over a job.

Every smart and successful man I know is married to a woman who has their own career and makes a lot of money. This allows them to take bigger career risks like starting companies without the stress.
A career oriented woman should be the goal for any career oriented man. Outside of the pooling of financial resources, she can be a sounding board as well as more empathetic because she gets what you are dealing with.

This is in reaction to someone, unprompted, coming out as transphobic. It is illustrative of the internalized double standard of online conservatism, where they lament facing social repercussions for vocalizing antisocial sentiments. They always have to be a victim, it’s absurd.
Okay I'm fking biting. Yacine is everyone's friend and the knee jerk reaction on this issue is not a way to treat a friend. Ultimately I think this is why this issue is so divisive; no one wants to actually talk. Everyone pretends this is a solved problem and just wants to hurry.

“Many of the things that we do every day link us with countless people who have come before us and—if we succeed in preventing the worst climate outcomes—countless people who will come after us. We can do the spiritual work to act from this knowledge right now.” - @OlufemiOTaiwo.

@EclecticRadical @The_Acumen They did not build more housing in SF, That you would confidently assert this despite the voluminous evidence to the contrary shows how much you know about what you’re talking about
