Arguably MLB as an industry has held down its young prospects for too long when they’re ready to contribute to the big leagues. But the NFL takes the opposite approach to its logical extreme. It’s crazy to watch. And I get the rookie contract thing. But even still…

Does anyone NOT strive to have this level of authenticity? Dude is unapologetically himself and focuses on what matters - not how others interpret him.

“I start with release angle and height” Angles are everything. Notice he then moves to pitch shapes. Your Trackman movement plot means nothing without release context. Hitters and pitchers: understanding VAA and HAA is VITAL. I can’t scream this enough!

@AndersonLMiller To evaluate my performance to make it as simple as possible I use a Quality At Bat model to grade my PA’s. For pitchers I start with release angle and height. Then I move to the shape of their pitches. And then I just watch video

This is really, really good. Worth your time, especially if you’re a pitcher with underwhelming velocity.

@ new football audience & coaches: Good time to mention that I worked with a 2x state champ, 4⭐️ QB his senior year Used plyo/athletic constraints to help: - leverage the pec/limit arm drag - load the back hip - sequence more efficiently Would love to talk more about this

I’ll take a coach who builds relationships & men of high character over a scumbag winning national championships any day. Several come to mind in NCAA 🏈 🏀 ⚾️ Coaches willing to win at all costs in today’s landscape likely aren’t transforming many lives outside of their own.

@PSUNationRec Some would argue this was the EXACT reason he couldn’t win the big one. Relationships became more important than production. 🤷‍♂️

Tangibles are easy to assess. Force production, velocity, lever length, statistics, health history… It’s far more challenging (and time consuming) to figure out what’s behind the curtain. And those factors are FAR more predictive of future success.

We suck at predicting talent development. We're not good at it. Accept that. Now, if that's the case, why wouldn't we want to keep more people in the pipeline to see how they develop? Too often, especially in youth sports, we talent ID too quickly. We're fooling ourselves.

You can say Jams Franklin never won a big game, but you can’t deny that he took a program that was at an all time low, and within 3 seasons turned them back into a perennial top 10 program. Penn State football would be in a worse place if it wasn’t for James Franklin. Thanks, CJF
