Delighted and proud to be joining the Government as a whip in @UKHouseofLords. Can't wait to help drive forward Labour’s plan for change, including important Bills coming up in the Lords on improving our schools, making work fairer and building more homes and infrastructure.

The failure to disclose the narrator of this documentary was a Hamas official’s son is of course an egregious breach of BBC’s ethics and standards. Nonetheless, candidly, as a PhD student in linguistics/machine translation, I think that this deliberate mistranslation to hide

The feitenrelaas from Amsterdam police and council re Ajax v Maccabi Tel Aviv is unambiguous. 62 arrests. 49 Dutch, 10 Israelis. 5 injuries all minor, all Israelis. These are the facts .

As this ludicrous, childish point is being made by many actual adults who think it persuasive, can I point out that saying British Jews are basically Israelis and thus foreign (antisemitic) is not the same as saying people who live in Israel are often Jews (not antisemitic).

Whilst I respect the independence of the SAG process, I am asking that they urgently review their decision. Football - and Birmingham - should be a game and a city for everyone. 2/2

The Prime Minister is right. Fans should not be prevented from attending a football match in our city because of threats or violence. I told the Chief Constable over a week ago that I did not believe a ban on Maccabi Tel Aviv fans was the right action & that remains my view. 1/2
This is the wrong decision. We will not tolerate antisemitism on our streets. The role of the police is to ensure all football fans can enjoy the game, without fear of violence or intimidation. https://t.co/8aBeqE4qbA

The NHS should be safe for all. I’ve been shocked by NHS staff who seem to think that racism against Jewish people is acceptable - encouraged by a complacent and indifferent regulatory system. Enough. John Mann will lead a short, sharp review to deal with racism in our ranks.

Understand urgent work being done in No10 to find out what can be done to ensure Maccabi Tel Aviv fans are able to attend the Villa match. PM understood to be furious at the West Midlands Police decision.

We face a rising tide of antisemitism throughout the UK. Now, up to £10 million in new funding will help protect Jewish communities - but we must go further to fight for a society that is free from hatred and violence. As your Home Secretary, I am committed to this fight.

No one should have to live a life in fear because of the faith they practice. That is not the Britain we stand for. In addition to existing support, up to £10 million in new funding will protect synagogues, Jewish faith schools and community centres across the UK.

I’ve been to loads of high risk games at Villa Park and I don’t believe for a second that WMP can’t police this one. But if they really aren’t up to the job then move the match somewhere else

Police say the decision is based partly on what happened in Amsterdam last year, when Israeli fans attending a match against Ajax were targets of antisemitic attacks.
