"As a previous generation rose to their moment, so we will too" Ending of my (no notes) maiden speech

It was a great privilege to represent the UK in China this week to talk about the opportunities for trade and investment in each other's countries. I hope it is the first of many.

A new proposal from @CMSgov under @DrOz wants to add catheters, ostomy & trach supplies to Medicare’s competitive bidding program. This is a bad idea and will worsen outcomes for seniors & Medicare recipients. My latest in @MedPageToday explains why ⬇️

Earlier this week I jetted off to the US to talk about the tech partnership and trade ahead of the State Visit. It was a pleasure to meet @howardlutnick and I'm looking forward to welcoming him to the UK.

Excited to be joining the @biztradegovuk team as a PPS to @peterkyle. Working with businesses and workers to create prosperity for every person and place in our great nation. That’s what this Government is about.

After tonight's hustings, I have decided to nominate @bphillipsonMP to be Deputy Leader. It was a strong and impressive performance. As Secretary of State, she has also shown she can raise quality *and* tackle the cost of living in difficult times.

In just a year, Angela Rayner has changed the lives of millions. She has put us on a path for building the (social) homes young people need and workers to have rights to bargain for better pay & decent conditions. I admire everything she has achieved.

To get living standards rising, we need to get energy bills down. Before recess, over 100 MPs in the Living Standards Coalition called for progressive changes to reduce bills for low- and middle-income households. Thanks to DESNZ and Ofgem for pursuing this.
