Let’s be clear that like all communities, the Jewish community is not a monolith, there is no one person or organization who speaks for us. It is dangerous to throw around claims of anti-semitism in order to silence criticism of Israel or expressing solidarity with Palestinians.

Burnaby is proud to be a living wage employer. In December 2023, it was raised to $25.68 an hour. As life is getting more expensive, we recognize that even with this increase, many people are struggling to meet their basic needs. #LivingWage

Buildings account for the highest citywide greenhouse gas emissions. We are taking important steps to electrify all new builds to meet our 2030 climate targets.

This is an important step for lasting peace. Thanks to the thousands of Canadians who mobilized in support of a ceasefire. Your voices matter.

Canada voted for a ceasefire at the UN today because thousands upon thousands of people marched, called their MPs and spoke out for human rights across the country. The pressure worked. Let’s keep up the pressure for an arms embargo and an end to the occupation. #FreePalestine

Tonight, Burnaby council unanimously supported a motion calling on the Canadian government to support a ceasefire in Gaza. I have heard from people in the community who are pleading for elected officials from all levels to speak up and take a stand. Canada must act now.

Your passion led us here. Today we voted to unanimously oppose the use of parkland for a Green Recycling and Organics facility. Thank you to everyone that spoke up. Grateful to my fellow @Burnaby_CA councilors for working to making this happen. https://t.co/pMeQsArfYW

I share the concerns raised by many about a GRO facility at Fraser Foreshore Park. My understanding of what's at stake has deepened thanks to everyone that spoke up. Your voice matters. Am looking forward to our #Burnaby Council meet Monday so we can revisit this decision.

I am glad to see this emergency meeting being called. While I continue to believe in the project itself, I know that the proposed location isn’t the right one. Let’s go back to the drawing board and get it right.
