Affordable housing on Governor's Island (an island w/ no businesses or transit or road access) has to be a joke. The UWS and three other Council districts didn't add a single unit of affordable housing last year. Start there.
Interesting @errollouis interview with Julie Menin. She backs universal child care and free buses and wants to build affordable housing in places like Governor's Island; she opposed ballot measures with the Council but says they'll make it easier to build:

I really need more leftists to understand: 1) markets are not the same thing as capitalism. Markets existed for thousands of years before capitalism 2) making markets work better for regular people isn’t pro-capitalist! Making them worse isn’t anti-capitalist!
there is no "left YIMBY-ism" because yimyism is free market libertarianism which is... right wing. yes, its embarrassing to get duped by real estate lobbyists, but I promise you if you join a real tenant struggle you can get your mind back real quick.

All of the “progressives” in city council who helped @JulieMenin get elected to speaker should be ashamed of themselves. Call your city council person today and yell at them! https://t.co/jqD0gwfZ99

Until a few weeks ago, most immigration arrests in NYC were happening at appointments in the Manhattan federal building or immigration offices. That's over: we're now in the randomly-grabbed-while-out-getting-coffee stage of lawless enforcement.

Activists and legal advocates are tracking seemingly random detentions of immigrants on the streets in what they say is a campaign of ethnic profiling.

This question should be asked of every Council member who has said they are backing Menin. Is that committee chairmanship really worth allying yourself with Trumpists and transphobes? And if that's not what you think is happening, explain why.
Vickie Paladino calls LGBT people groomers. If Julie Menin is willing to court and tout her support in the speaker's race, what does that say about her willingness to stand up for us as speaker?

Thank you, Chi! Everyone reading this — call Speaker Adams today and tell her why we need universal daylighting. Urge her to bring Intro 1138 to a vote so we can make NYC's intersections safe for everyone: 212-482-6731

.@NYCSpeakerAdams's office is being so avoidant that they are directing constituents calling about Intro. 1138 to call 311. Keep the pressure up! 718-206-2068
Want to stop this from happening? Call @NYCSpeakerAdams first thing tomorrow at 718-206-2068

Our Executive Director @AnnemarieGray on joining @ZohranKMamdani's transition: "Bringing down the cost of living, especially the soaring cost of rent for working New Yorkers, has been the core of your campaign and the heart of my career in housing."

1.3 million New Yorkers ride the bus every day - almost twice the entire population of Boston.
Today, over a million New Yorkers will ride the slowest buses in the nation, with an average speed of only 8 mph. As a candidate, Zohran Mamdani committed to making buses fast and free. As mayor, there is so much he can do to make buses frequent, reliable, and pleasant.

NYC’s subways are decades behind the rest of the world. Legally requiring two-person crews is needlessly costly in a moment when we need to invest in expanded and improved service. @KathyHochul, veto this misguided bill. Let’s move NYC’s subways forward—not back in time.

Truly grateful to these extraordinary New Yorkers who are more than ready to roll up their sleeves and help ensure @ZohranKMamdani administration is ready to deliver for New Yorkers on Day 1.
More than 400 New Yorkers are joining our Transition Committees—all driven by the urgency of tackling our affordability crisis.

We welcome Council Member @galeabrewer back on to the universal daylighting bill! This is a clear sign of momentum for Intro 1138. We need to pass this life-saving legislation before the end of the year — New York families can't wait for safer intersections.

the Adrienne Adams crashout over the past few months is wild. first she went full NIMBY with the ballot props. now she’s putting parking over pedestrian safety call up her office (718-206-2068, press 2) & your local city councilmember to express support for universal daylighting
NEW: NYC Council Speaker Adrienne Adams + City Hall are colluding to kill a long-awaited bill to ban parking near all intersections for better visibility — a dramatic, lame-duck gambit that advocates blasted as an egregious form of political gamesmanship.

Excellent op-ed by @Annie_Weinstock who’s been leaving breadcrumbs for the next DOT for months. The next admin can’t just continue the Sadik-Khan playbook – they have to completely reimagine it so we can build high-quality permanent infrastructure quickly. https://t.co/LP8rVjwl7z

Rather than continuing New York's quick-build approach to redesigning streets with temporary materials, Zohran Mamdani should aim for permanent.
