Preserving every single free parking spot, or enjoying a city not overwhelmed by trash? The Council chose correctly—containerization is here to stay. Next, @Zohrankmamdani says he’ll take it even further. That’s how we create a modern city built for the people (not the rats!).

This filing provides a remarkable view into the history of the city's attempts to build 100% affordable housing on its own land. Whatever you think about the Elizabeth Street Garden as it now exists, this document highlights the profound uphill battle new homes face in NYC.

New: the jilted developers of the Haven Green/Elizabeth Street Garden housing project just sued the city, seeking to block Adams' move to make it a park. They call the move "unlawful" and argue it unfairly binds the hands of the Mamdani administration. https://t.co/pZmWgnfFeZ

City of Yes is making recent rezonings better. 2560 Boston Road in Bronx Community District 11 passed ULURP as a 100% affordable 333-unit building in 2023. It's now planned to be approximately 483-units, with a larger supermarket, and deeper affordability.

Our vibrant neighborhoods deserve to shed unsightly old sheds—fantastic to see the city rolling out new, more attractive scaffolding designs 🤩

Housing affordability and the declining political fortunes of Democrats are profoundly connected. An inability to build housing is THE big reason blue states are projected to lose 12 electoral college seats by 2032. https://t.co/LTtVV9sBOv

Broken websites, tedious paperwork, endless delays… As we said in today’s Substack: Mamdani’s real test is fixing the unsexy systems. Let’s start by un-graying the box.

Mamdani has the mandate—but fixing the unsexy stuff like civil service chaos, broken property taxes, and sky-high insurance will require a real transformation. His win broke the mold. Now it’s time to do it again. Read more about how he can in our Substack.

Free parking spots aren’t worth the lives of 50 children. Daylighting works: Hoboken hasn’t had a traffic death in 8 years. New York deserves the same.

Long Island City just won big. OneLIC is bringing 14,700 homes, deep affordability, Queensbridge upgrades, new schools, parks, and $2B in investment, creating the infrastructure and housing LIC has been denied for years. Let’s keep this pro-housing momentum going!

The FiDi-Seaport plan is generational infrastructure: protecting the city from floods *and* creating a waterfront for all New Yorkers. We understand the stakes & the opportunities, now we need leaders at every level who will fund the climate future NYC deserves.
