one reason we're seeing less political debates around wildfires in british columbia is probably that our three worst wildfires seasons by hectares burned have all happened since 2017 and in one of those years an entire town burned down tends to focus the mind

I’m not in this now, but I have been in various #BCwildfire years. It’s coincided with the strongest climate grief I’ve personally experienced.

This comes after the regional district delayed a vote on its Climate Action Plan because of public outcry that more consultation was needed:
