one reason we're seeing less political debates around wildfires in british columbia is probably that our three worst wildfires seasons by hectares burned have all happened since 2017 and in one of those years an entire town burned down tends to focus the mind

I’m not in this now, but I have been in various #BCwildfire years. It’s coincided with the strongest climate grief I’ve personally experienced.

Due to hundreds of uncontrolled wildfires across Canada, New York City looks like a post-apocalyptic hellscape. If you want a prelude of what the world is going to look like if we do not address man-made climate change — this is it. #ActOnClimate

This comes after the regional district delayed a vote on its Climate Action Plan because of public outcry that more consultation was needed:

So flood and fire season seem to be overlapping in B.C. this spring. I’m listening to rain fall and know our river is rising, but we’re fine so far. Thinking of all packing belongings and sand bags today. #bcstorm #bcwildfires

💔 Crushed to hear about @dbarefoot’s passing. I would never have started blogging when I did, and continued with it as a career, if not for inspiration from Darren (his blog, Northern Voice, all of it). My thoughts are with Julie & his loved ones. https://t.co/e8mmc24fYr

In 2020, Transport Canada made it mandatory for all newly-built highway buses to have seatbelts — but no legislation exists to enforce the use of those seatbelts.
