Excellent news, and on behalf of Canada’s ecology and evolutionary biology research community (@CSEE_SCEE), I can say that this is much welcomed. 🇨🇦 💵 🇨🇦.
Increases to NSERC Discovery Grants: Budget 2024 funds will be ramped up over the next 5 years, with $20.4 million this 1st year & increasing to $227 million per year in year 5 & ongoing. These increases will enable researchers to better support students & postdoctoral fellows.

Climate Solutions ♥️.
"The right tool for the job. " isn't always a big-ass honking pick-up. Picking up groceries with an F-150 is like. Cracking nuts with a sledgehammer .or Making toast with a flamethrower. 6 out of 10 trips are under 5 miles; usually a smaller vehicle will do.

Here is a bike lane, fall trees, e-bike, and turkey dinner for 18 people. What’s not here is a 6,000lb SUV to pickup 25lbs of food supplies. I’m thankful for the leadership of ppl before me that helped build the foundations of a compact, bikeable city that we all get to enjoy
