I rarely make posts like this one, but yesterday I was at this beautiful spot and felt grateful for being able to do so. Not long after, I thought about all of those patients who are unable to have a normal life. No stopping until a solution is found. #MECFS #LongCOVID

3/ The reason for trying LOLA back then, was because there was an increase on some of my symptoms when I would eat lots of protein. This is also discussed in my recovery story :

3/ . using a different LOLA supplement brand from the one I used. In 2019, I did not have many buying options for LOLA (which is used for hepatic encephalopathy). I can definitely now say it is working for me. Total dosage is 2 grams / day, spread in 4 doses.

2/ . did not seem to "feel" right for me. I did not feel unwell but I had some strange lightheadedness after taking it so I decided not to move forward in further supplementing it. Given our recent publication (see below) & patient comments I decided to try it again, this time.

1/ I would like to share my personal experience with LOLA (L-Ornithine / L-Aspartate) supplementation and also an update from using it. When Dr Wenzhong Xiao first mentioned it to me, I told him about my first experience from using it which was in 2019. Back then, LOLA . .

5/ Personal opinion : Given the latest study by Ponting et. al which mentions potential liver dysfunction, this study could also be yet one more "signal" that liver function has to be further investigated.

4/ Asparagine is required for proper N-Linked glycosylation. Personal opinion : The function of N-Linked glycosylation should be further investigated in patients and whether low asparagine levels can be responsible for ER Stress (ER Stress identified in a study by Hwang et. al).

3/ We have more than one studies that identify a potential down-regulation of the Urea Cycle (also seen at latest study by Ponting et. al and Armstrong et. al ) . Urea cycle was also identified through Network Analysis in 2017 ( Network Analysis figure shown below, unpublished)

Based on my latest blood results, I witnessed a profound decrease (-59 mg/dL) within 2 months in my LDL cholesterol levels without any significant dietary interventions (cc @tamararivc). Certain actions based on a personalized plan is most likely responsible for these results.

This is my third week of working full time again and the third week of walking at least 6.000 steps per day. I cannot believe it. I still don’t trust the situation. Still pacing ! Still lot of pills. But really surprised that there is no major backlash so far. 🙏.
