What’s happening at RTE is holding a mirror up to what is happening across society in general. We have systems and structures all set up for the elite few. The RTE workers today aren’t just speaking for themselves they are speaking for all of us - we need change in this country

Having taught maths myself for many years I don’t remember ever seeing such upset from an exam paper. It is really unacceptable that students have been left feeling this way over the weekend before facing into their next set of exams. The stakes are too high at LC.

This is why what is happening in RTE matters. @emma_okelly has always to my mind been a fair and objective reporter on important educational matters and this is confirmed for me by her stance on this. State broadcasting can either be an enabler of Democracy or an attacker.

We need a Citizens Assembly for Education. If we could spend time on creating a shared long term vision for Education then the many issues we have would be easier to navigate. Instead we deal with JC, Senior Cycle, special classes, recruitment, Wellbeing, bullying, climate etc.

If English isn’t the first language spoke in your household, then it would be very fair and reasonable that the CAO would take that into consideration and extra points could be given for sitting papers in English. That is if equality of opportunity and outcome is the aim.

There’s approx 13% of young people between 10-17 who are deemed to be ‘young carers’. Where are they being considered in all of this? There is little to no state intervention to ensure they are absolved of their caring responsibilities to allow them have their childhood.

Second level education is a right. It is not something you compete in. It is not something that someone can do better than you- your experience of it is as valid if you fail every exam as if you get top marks. You are not entitled to do better ‘from’ it than someone else.

Leo thinks him and his buddies just made better choices and worked harder. And therein lies the exact reason the country is in the state it is.

There’s our courageous Taoiseach @LeoVaradkar putting far left agitator @paulmurphy_TD in his place by using the tv show Benefits Street to show how untrustworthy welfare recipients are. Bravo, Teesh.

Delighted to speak to @nearfm today about working class stories (or lack thereof) in school curriculum. Whose culture matters most? What stories are we prioritising and what does that mean for who is successful and who isn’t? Great to meet Dr. Rosie Meade too from @UCC .

An inspiring and motivational few days at @EducateTogether Principal’s conference. The benefits to @ClogherRoadCC school community by our relationship with @EducateTogether under @CityofDublinETB patronage offers a fresh model for DEIS education- one that is beneficial for all

Thinking about the @CorkLifeCentre and The Unteachables. So much of it resonates from the interactions we have on the side with students to cajole them into compliancy in the classroom. When will we mainstream the individual and sideline compliancy? #edchatie
