Postdoc in Liqun Luo's lab, Former PhD student from the Ginty lab @PiN_Harvard @harvardmed
Boston, MA
Joined October 2016
I attended this summer course when I visited China last year. It was an eye opening experience. The speaker lineup is really good and there are plenty of opportunities to interact with these world class imaging experts and neuroscientists.
Enrollment Now Open! #CSHA 3rd Annual Summer Course on Modern Techniques in #Neuroscience: #Probes, Detections and Discoveries-organized by Yulong Li @yulonglilab & Tianyi Mao. Apply today at https://t.co/KrUqIPOC1A. We are waiting for you in Suzhou China.

A terrific story about David’s work on touch: Touch, Our Most Complex Sense, Is a Landscape of Cellular Sensors | Quanta Magazine
quantamagazine.org
Every soft caress of wind, searing burn and seismic rumble is detected by our skin’s tangle of touch sensors. David Ginty has spent his career cataloging the neurons beneath everyday sensations.

Such cool work! The behaviors and underlying neural mechanism of mammal infants are so intriguing but underappreciated. This paper from @yuexuan_li in the lab of @dietrich_mo truly demonstrated the beauty and insights that can be obtained from studying mouse pups. Congrats!
The first social behavior of a mammal infant is to form a social bond with the mother. In this work, we found that somatostatin-expressing neurons in the ZI of preweaning mice respond to social interactions with their mother. Here's a video highlighting our main findings.

I'm thrilled to join @DFCI_CancerBio and @HarvardCellBio as a tenure track assistant professor Sept 2024! The Gu lab elucidates mechanisms underlying cellular homeostasis, with our initial effort on nuclear protein turnover by the ubiquitin-independent midnolin-proteasome pathway

In the paper, we revealed that the Krause corpuscles, discovered by Krause in the 1860s in the human clitoris and penis, sense vibration and dynamic light touch, mediate sexual reflex in female and male mice, and are crucial for the mating behaviors of female and male mice

Excited to share our paper on the specialized sensory structures of the genitalia for sexual touch. It was a collective efforts with the co-first author Michael Iskols @MIskols and other authors @RSegalGreenberg @AnnieHandler and others not on X.
Really proud to publish this fascinating paper on receptors responsible for sexual touch. It's easy to get prudish and Victorian on this sort of work, but sexual and reproductive health is extremely important https://t.co/Dmfma4Aj70

Really love the work from Aniqa Tasnim and colleagues showing the developmental timing of spinal touch alterations in ASD models. The tactile behavior in pups is super cool!
Check out our now published study with Aniqa Tasnim that reveals early sensory disturbances in ASD predict future anxiety and social issues. It’s been an honor to work with Aniqa and others on this work during undergrad. #ASDResearch #Neuroscience
